Pros: Fun boards, Lots of replay value, fun mini games, easy to pick up and play, nice item system, no hand problems
Cons: Same characters and some of the mini games from the first one
Overall, I think Mario Party 2 could be improved by adding more characters and if they got rid of the mini games from Mario Party. I feel like it's too similar to the first one to get a five. Two good things they added (or deleted) were the easy to use and clever item system and that there are no more mini game that use your palm and give you blisters. So, I give this game a 4 out of 5.
This one feels a bit shorter than the first, but just as enjoyable. I love the idea of it all being a play at the theatre, especially the costumes for each level. I had just as much fun replaying this with my cousin and sister as the first one. Now they need to add Mario Party 3!
My best friend of 19 years came to visit. He brought a friend. He said "lets play mario party". My husband, who knows us very well, walked out of the room and refused to play.
We loaded the game. Picked Western World. 35 rounds. We had 1 com, on hard, Donkey Kong.
The star was 2 spots before the Hootenanny shop. I got there first. I didn't get the star. I called a Hootenanny. Everyone gathered 1 spot in front of the star.
Everyone was mad but whatever.
Donkey Kong found a hidden block star.
Round 34. Nobody had a star except the one from Donkey Kong that we kept stealing from each other. Everyone is within 10 paces of the star. Wario had over 100 coons saved for it, Luigi was closest and had about 50 coins.
Peach was last player to roll. 1 pace behind star. 100+ coins. This was it boys, likely the only star we could by. Donkey Kong, the glorious b@stard, had a bowser bomb, waiting to go off after Peach's roll.
I rolled.
A 10.

I stared him directly in the eye as I hit 'no star' and called another Hootenanny.
The bowser bomb went off.
He rolls poorly, but since all 3 other players are in the same spot, he gets them...and takes ALL THEIR COINS.
Peach was spared.
I almost got murdered that day.
