Mario Kart Wii is a multiplayer-oriented racing game for the Wii, and the sixth main installment in the Mario Kart series. Mario Kart Wii is a multiplayer-oriented racing game for the Wii, and the sixth main installment in the Mario Kart series. Mario Kart Wii retains the traditional item-based weaponry familiar with the franchise, where players can select a Mario franchise driver and themed vehicles. As with most racing games, the overarching goal is to place first among other competitors, through the usage of such items and taking the fastest routes to secure the leads. Several new key elements introduced to Mario Kart Wii include increasing the number of racers to 12 racers from 8 racers from previous entries in the series, as well as introducing a new type of vehicle to the franchise: bikes. The game takes advantage of features unique to the Wii, most notably its motion control capabilities. A Wii Wheel is included in most Mario Kart Wii packages, though the game is still compatible with other controllers. This review is for the Wii version

Compared to more recent games it's still fun and some tracks are quirky and engaging. Unlocking things requires less grind but more skill, I love the driving system with bikes

Best Mario Kart

Bikes rule, and this had the best new tracks of any game to date. Especially the middle two cups.

This is the best Mario Kart in the entire franchise. The game play is fun and a bit more challenging. the music is fantastic, and most importantly, the maps are the best. coconut mall is the best course in all of Mario Kart and I will stand by that till I die.

One of the best Mario Karts.
This review is for the Wii version

Damn, this game could be fun and frustrating at the same time. The Wii wheel was a cool idea but pointless. The superior way to play is either via Wiimote and Nunchuck or even a controller. It's also nice it can be made as balanced and chaotic as you wanted it to be in multiplayer. As the title says, one of the best if not the best Mario Kart I've ever played.

By far my favorite Wii game. Come for Maple Treeway, stay for Waluigi's conspiratorial accusations and Daisy being Jersey AF.

Pros: motorbikes provide more play styles, automatic transmission option for beginner players, memorable tracks (and retro cups), online play [disabled]

Cons: blue shell item penalizes skill, steep learning curve on "wheel" control scheme

Recommendation: a high point in the Mario Kart series in terms of content, control, and fun. Despite termination of Wii's wi-fi service, local multiplayer still a joy.

Another banger that was part of my childhood. The wii wheel was so cool to me as a kid and the amount of characters in the game were insane only rivaled by Smash Bros Brawl at the time. The ramps were so satisfying and the trick sound will be burned into my mind for eternity. My favourite course is toads factory, maple treeway, grumble volcano or koopa cape. So many good ones to choose from.

I played the heck out of this one and it's one of my favorite games on the Wii. I'm one of the few who liked using the Wii Wheel for driving.
