Why does this page look different?
We're in the process of merging Giant Bomb game entries to IGDB entries. This is an older Giant Bomb page. It's safe to use, and all data will eventually be moved to the corresponding IGDB entry.
Unique and relaxing deckbuilder game with some light narrative elements and pleasant if not particularly memorable characters. The best aspect of this game is that the books are real books, both popular and sometimes wildly obscure. I was a bookseller before I became a librarian so this all felt like old hat for me but I do wonder how somebody would feel about the recommendation element if they weren’t already broadly familiar with the books, especially when you have more books on your shelves than you can flip through quickly and the requests gets more complicated. I was ready for the game to be done when it was and I wouldn’t recommend playing it for more than a couple of hours at a time since the gameplay loop gets repetitive quickly but this is an indie game gem I hope to see inspiring other games in the future.
Picked this up at the same time as Mythwrecked last week, and finally tried it out for a bit last night.
Most of the sales are "automated" in the sense that NPCs come up and buy what they want while you just chill.
But then sometimes they make requests, and the game pulls up your shelf and you can try to find a book to match the request. They're all real books! It shows author, publishing date, and a short blurb. There are your typical classics and whatnot, but then I also saw that I had stuff like Catching Fire (Hunger Games) and even volumes of manga like Death Note and Ranma 1/2. Really cool feature.
