Cute, good tunes, funny death sound, neat idea of a witch shooting out of her finger, full of good power-ups and I like the Exp system

However, I dunno, after the depth of FF4 and fun of Legend of the Mystical Ninja, I just can';t seem to click with this. Shmups were never my preferred genre, and they've lost their freshness.

I made a goal to finish the first Stage and did it. Neat boss there, and cute Tea Time segment at the end of the level :-p But moving on. Play this for sure if you're a shmup/cute em up fan.

I played through the Neo Geo Pocket Color port of this one. The first game in the classic horizontal shmup series, Cotton. In this game you are a witch kid named Cotton, who flies around on a broomstick and shoots down loads of cute enemies. Pretty straightforward, but it's nice simple fun. My favorite parts of this game were the little cut scenes between levels, which shows Cotton not caring at all about saving the fairy world, and instead is only concerned about the candy reward she's been promised. The translated dialogue is extremely stilted for these bits, which makes it all even funnier. Now I wish there was a kids comedy anime from the early 90s for Cotton -- that would've been great.
