The latency is BRUTAL
This review is for the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis version

A WHOLE SECOND WORTH OF LATENCY UNTIL THE GAME RESPONDS TO YOUR BUTTON PUSH... WHAT!

Assuming you got over the latency problem, there is a good game in there to probably put a good 30 minutes or so of gameplay and you would have a ton of fun, If you could manage your expectation that is.

I managed to get about 20 minutes or so worth of gameplay with different class/difficulty in the Arcade Mode, but couldn't dive into Original Mode because of the horrendous latency.

The graphics are great, the music not so much. It will blend in the background and you won't notice it. Overall try to play on other platform because the Genesis version Sucks.

Completed the first 2 courses fairly, then used savestates to beat the "Expert" stage. The controls, graphics and new music tracks are OK, but the game gets simply unfair in the final race, to the point that the first game seems like a walk in the park in comparison.

Still a fun game and definitely worth playing.

Played all stages

Final thoughts:

Not much to say other than it's OutRun in a motorcycle with the stages are all being linear. The harder stages can also be longer than 10min, with much more blind turns that I don't think you can react to unless you have track knowledge.

Even though the music is much more obscure than OutRun (which at least gets music cameos in several modern games), I think they're just as good! I personally like Sprinter, but all 3 other songs are decent.

Been playing a lot of this via the arcade in Yakuza 0. It's a solid arcade racer featuring motorcycles. I feel like it is meant to be played with the motorcycle handlebars, but I'll probably never get to do that. It's still fun however; it feels very reminiscent of OutRun. I think the latter has the edge though -- Super Hang-On in comparison does not have as engaging visuals, music, or charm. I do appreciate the multiple course options (organized by continent and difficulty), and the use of your turbo boost does provide an exhilarating sense of speed (and a great case of risk-reward, because it'll be tougher to make upcoming turns while going that fast).
