Back in the distant past (way back - like when “rock and roll” was just rock and fast food was dinner you couldn’t catch), lived two cave dudes named Joe and Mac. Whether it was dinosaur demolition or pterodactyl hang-glidin’, life for the boys was pretty cool. Cool, that is, until a bogus bunch of neanderthal nerds crashed their village and scared off all the cave-babes. Now the cave-babes are out there - SOMEWHERE, lost and reeeeally lonely… so what are you waitin’ for? It’s up to Joe and Mac to get ‘em back. * Fight flying pterodactyls in one or two-player simultaneous play. * 12 cliff-hangin’ levels with more than 6 bonus levels to find… * Amazing arcade graphics will keep you clubbin’ to find your babes… * Joe & Mac’s pre-hysterical escapades will keep you comin’ back for more! Beat NES version using slow motion. This was a different game from the SNES version, simpler, shorter, more difficult combat and minimal platforming. I found it difficult to not take damage given the infinite enemies and somewhat clunky controls, and spamming attacks was not good. I did like how you could shoot straight up. During the 1st boss I had to look up how to do the high jump; it was hold up and press jump. That made it much easier. I switched out the axe for knives just before the plant boss and could not beat it at all. I had to die and respawn to go back to the basic axe, which had longer range due to firing in an Arc. The knife just went straight before vanishing. Later I got the wheel which did more damage and traveled the full length of the screen along the ground, then fire which did the most damage while having a limited arc like the axe. The damage improvement made the bosses and regular enemies so much easier. The final level was tough because some enemies inexplicably took 2 hits from the fire now. I think the player would not need to be able to survive 12+ hits if the enemies were not so difficult to avoid and kill. Final boss was some weird hybrid between caveman and dinosaur. Decent game but not as good as SNES version.

Preliminary: This seems quite innocuous and skippable, how many caveman themed videogames can there be... but it really is beautiful. That initial nighttime screen, the dinosaurs as platforms, good stuff. Some funny animations too. This first boss is a bit frustrating, but I'm sure I will figure it out. That initial nighttime screen, the dinosaurs as platforms, good stuff. Some funny animations too. This first boss is a bit frustrating, but I'm sure I will figure it out. The problem is a lot of these run n punch platformers feel just so redundant after a bit, so many of them out there, hopefully it'll clinch me with its good Look.

Yea no. Too clunky. Standard arcade platformer fare, I'd play it at length if I had it on arcade machine/limited access :-p But as it is, moving on.

A decent port of the arcade classic

The NES port doesn't get much love, but I found the 8-bit version of this game fun and with enough challenge. The lack of 2 player co-op is missing, and the levels aren't as varied as the SNES version or arcade, yet the game is worth checking out if you are a fan of the series. If you want the …

If you want the full Caveman Ninja experience you will not find it here. That is not to say that this one is not decent and playable.

Beat the game. I mostly used the fire weapon but I found use for all of the weapons. The last few bosses seen me use the boomerang mostly, sometimes swapping to the wheel. I only found 1 key in the 1st level and never bothered to try and find secrets.

A fairly good game which reminds me of a hybrid between Super Mario World and Mega Man. I was impressed by the final level and final boss because I did not expect either at all. Had some trouble with the platforming when the platforms were small and occasional trouble with combat but overall not too difficult.
