Beat NES version using slow motion. This was a different game from the SNES version, simpler, shorter, more difficult combat and minimal platforming. I found it difficult to not take damage given the infinite enemies and somewhat clunky controls, and spamming attacks was not good. I did like how you could shoot straight up. During the 1st boss I had to look up how to do the high jump; it was hold up and press jump. That made it much easier. I switched out the axe for knives just before the plant boss and could not beat it at all. I had to die and respawn to go back to the basic axe, which had longer range due to firing in an Arc. The knife just went straight before vanishing. Later I got the wheel which did more damage and traveled the full length of the screen along the ground, then fire which did the most damage while having a limited arc like the axe. The damage improvement made the bosses and regular enemies so much easier. The final level was tough because some enemies inexplicably took 2 hits from the fire now. I think the player would not need to be able to survive 12+ hits if the enemies were not so difficult to avoid and kill. Final boss was some weird hybrid between caveman and dinosaur. Decent game but not as good as SNES version.
