Review Trost 5/5 · Sep 19, 2022
First half of the game: 5 starts, perfect. Second half: Everything goes downhill.
Gonna start with a random moment from the game:
Found three guys running around a pile of burning corpses on the edge of the map. (Some easter egg?)
Still not sure why theycombusted in the end, but it was kinda funny/unexpected. I guess they were carrying molotov's before I zapped them.

When I have mixed feelings about a game, I sometimes do this weird thing: I google for a similar review just to feel some kind of... validation? In any case, it feels good.
So this time I'm going to start a review by quoting 2 random people from the internet who perfectly summed up how I was first amazed and then disappointed by this game:
The first half of TEW2 was amazing... I was seriously blown away by it and couldn’t believe how good it was, sadly for the second part the game starts to fall aparts slowly.
And:
After Chapter 3 I was ready to shout from a rooftop how good this game is but when the credits rolled I had no desire to touch the game ever again.
This ^. I was so hyped by this game, I wished it would never end.
The first part felt like an amazing coherent world. The gameplay was like all my favourite survival horror games combined. The story got me interested to know what's next. The design of the locations and the creatures was cool. I liked the violent, yet somehow beautiful "art decorations" created by the first villain, Stefano, who appears to be the "mad artist" kind of guy. (Kinda like Jhin in LoL)
I liked everything in the beginning.
Then, roughly halfway through the game decides to throw all of that out of the window.
Playing it felt like watching your good friend slowly become a deranged alcoholic, who shits his pants daily. The game looks the same, but it doesn't feel fun anymore.
The gameplay loses all tension, you're flooded with enemies and weapons and repetitive fetch quests.
The story loses all sense of mystery and becomes incredibly boring and absurd.
And in the very end, they decided "why not make a movie, while we're here" and slapped a series of long cutscenes almost side-by-side.
Why.
Anyway, gonna rate this as a 5, just for the pleasant experience I had from the first half and pretend forget the rest of it.
Once again I confirm, that sometimes you just gotta enjoy something while it's fun and drop it once it's not, instead of pushing through out of habit or completionism.
