Resident Evil 7: Biohazard is the first game of the Resident Evil series to switch from 3rd-person to fully 1st-person perspective. A complete refresh of gameplay systems simultaneously propels the survival horror experience to another level. It is as much horror as it is survival, boosting up scare elements and minimizing downright shooting action. The game allows use of Sony's PSVR Headset to play in VR mode.

Great game, had a good spooky time with it. My only complaints are some of the cheap deaths the game will throw at you regarding ambushes plus the game's status screen - everything being in real time during combat encounters is clunky makes thing a little more complex than needed. Health in this game is plentiful but checking your status via blood splatter on the screen is inconsistent. Over time you get sorta get a groove for it but it pales in comparison to the other game's indicators. That said, good game and I recommend it.

I was so worried this game would be too serious and lose the kitsch factor but absolutely fucking not. A giant mutated monster started screaming that my life ain't worth a jar of piss while I shot them in the eyeballs. Love this dumbass series.

Okay nevermindddd I got through the Boiler Room and now I’m kinda loving it. It’s reminding me so much of the first Resident Evil and I’m obsessed. Ethan’s voice is kinda hot also 🤭

I love horror films, I believe it tests the actor true ability to act. That's the only way you can really sell it. Resident Evil 7 is scary as shit! I've played a little bit in VR as well, the experience is heighten even more. The gameplay is phenomenal, it's the classic RE game with storage management, looking at your map, and solving puzzles except it's in first person view. Personally, I actually dig the first person view, the horror is right in your face and I love it lol. The sound design is fantastic, always feeling like something is behind me or above me really brings out the atmosphere. The graphics is great as well.

The game starts to lose its luster near the end but that's how scary movies are. You start to conquer your fears as you progress the game as it should be.

Overall, this is a must play game for people who loves horror.

I finally managed to get up the courage to play this all the way through. The first hour was overly intense and mainly a set of events that happen to your character, occurring to just setup your horrible situation. The end of the game is super soldier as you run around blasting “zombies” with a myriad of different weapons, no longer afraid of anything.

Somewhere in the middle is the classic RE video game with limited inventory, weird puzzles, creepy locations and monsters occasionally popping out of nowhere. It creates good tension while giving the player a bit of agency in controlling how they manage to survive their circumstances.

Overall I enjoyed my time with it and welcome a departure from the typical RE characters.

Started RE7 yesterday since it is one of the “free” PS5 games that I have not beat yet. I’m a total wuss and I don’t do well with First person games. I tend to get motion sickness. So those two things are stacked against me actually finishing this game.

But I’m really interested in seeing how it connects to the rest of the games. So going to try and move forward since I also know it’s only around 8-12 hours long.

I’m going to totally cheat and use a walkthrough as well. Picking one that leaves out story bits but gets me not to poop myself too much.

Might take awhile playing in short bursts so I don’t get sick.

I made it past the kitchen scene yesterday which I believe was the end of the first chapter? I made it to the “second” house or whatever? So far I feel I already don’t care for our character Ethan? But I just feel like I’m in a bad horror flick and I want to yell at him for doing stupid stuff. Like going into this creepy ass house alone. I mean come on man dead animals outside and it’s OkAy to enter?!? Nope!

So that’s my first update or post on RE7.

Resident evil village is out and I enjoy its campiness a lot more, so I'm having a lot of fun with it. That's gonna slow me down to finishing this one. On PC, so not top of my priorities. Will return to another day.

I don't know why I never logged this game. I loved it, even if I had to use a walkthrough a couple of times.
