Resident Evil Village is a first-person survival horror game and the sequel to Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. The game maintains elements from previous Resident Evil games, with players having to scavenge environments for items and manage their resources. However, it adds more action-oriented gameplay, with higher enemy counts and a greater emphasis on combat.

Played the DLC, “Shadows of Rose”—was a fun 3 hours or so. While the locations are generally copied from the main game, they’re packed with new objectives that I mostly enjoyed. Some of it definitely feels like alternate ideas that were cut in favor of what we actually got in the main game, but some of it is pretty good in its own right, particularly the middle section. The story was not bad, mostly just good because Rose is a more energetic and interesting protagonist than Ethan. I would recommend picking it up on sale at least if you already liked the main game.

Rose is a great characters and it feels great to come back to this village after so many months. There's a stealth sequence that actually managed to feel tense and scary instead of tedious. The third person perspective is great, specially for those who suffer motion sickness or get scared easily, but there are sections that are obviously made with first person perspective in mind and don't feel that great.

Here's my full review of the DLC in spanish. enter image description here

Another bad thing. You need to unlock Heisenberg and Lady Dimitrescu in Mercenaries. You cant play as them "out of the box". Well, bad for me because I suck and it was really hard to complete the requisites to get them.

I was never a huge RE fan. I love the horror genre, and I tried to enjoy previous entries in the series, but always got bored for some reason. It just doesn’t get under my skin. I think it lacks the magical psychological terror of titles like Silent Hill. I realize that this is my personal preference, and not objectively better; different things scare different people. When I play a game in this genre, I want it to get under my skin. Along came RE7, and I fell in love. It was everything I love about the genre. After completing it, I really looked forward to village. Unfortunately, it severely lacked the magic of 7 (again, in my opinion). I’m not saying this is a bad game. It just wasn’t what I wanted it to be.

Resident Evil 8 done, at least until October's Winter Expansion. Wow that sounds counterintuitive lol.

If RE7 harkened back to the old school, 1-3 style of gameplay, 8 is a love letter to 4, down to the return of the inventory management style and a funky dude who sells you shit magically appearing when you need him most. Fantastic game, …

If RE7 harkened back to the old school, 1-3 style of gameplay, 8 is a love letter to 4, down to the return of the inventory management style and a funky dude who sells you shit magically appearing when you need him most. Fantastic game, absolutely in my top 3 Resident Evils. The story is up there with Revelations 2 in making me teary eyed, with the added bonus of not being one of the dumbest stories in a series that has some pretty dumb stories. I'm going to psychoanalyze myself and say that the common thread for me crying is dads because my dad passed away a few years ago, so I am sad about dads, I guess.

Good game, highly recommended

It's just for me that this game crashes every time? I saw a reddit post about crashing reports and a lot of people with really expensive video cards complaining about constant crashes, well I'm near the end now and the game is great but this crashes makes me sad.

Fucking loving this game so far. Not as scary/creepy as RE 7, but still a wonderful successor. It's a gorgeous one too. Castle Dimitrescu is absolutely jaw dropping at how beautiful it is.

Omg I just finished it. I have been undone, unravelled, unkept. I feel like my intestines have been ripped out of my body like I feel so sick right now because of the emotional toll this has had on me. I’m crying, shaking, fighting for air. Genuinely have been transformed from this experience. In case this is unclear: it was …

Okay this is really interesting because as a video game by itself, I'm really enjoying it! It feels like a way better Resident Evil 4 (Resident Evil 4 purists don't come for me 🙄). However, as a resident evil game, it feels a little misplaced and confused. Still love it tho!

Just started it and I’m not sure what Chris’ deal is but whatever I still support him cause he’s hot and I want his thighs around my neck. And also omg the zombies in this game are RAVENOUS like please guys stop I’m literally about to burst into tears because you move too fast.

Two unpopular opinions

  1. I'll reiterate. While fun, I am dissapointed with Village and I think it feels less advanced than a game that came out 16 years prior.

  2. Lady Dimitrescu just isn't that attractive IMO.
