Hearing impressions of the Switch version released via NSO, and learned that it as well as the GameCube, Wii VC, and Wii U VC versions can have anywhere from 2-5 times the input lag as N64 (100ms of lag being built-in to allow time to draw the graphics), as well as changes in the joystick deadzone and precision that together make the game’s controls feel notably clunkier than the original. The game looks sharp on Switch, and would certainly be playable despite the control issues and a few visual and audio quirks, but it’s funny how a lower-effort attempt at game preservation can actually slightly harm the perception of a game in this way for both new and returning players, and result in people thinking it’s aged a bit worse than it actually has. I recommend OoT 3D for a true first-timer these days (which REALLY should be released on Switch), but definitely don’t let this completely deter you from playing the Switch version if it’s the only one you can access.
