San Francisco Rush 2049
The other games in this collection are quick-burning fun. There is the seadoo racer Hydro Thunder and the mud buggy racer Offroad Thunder.
But, lag-scroll that wheel cursor to [RUSH 2049], press [x], and everything fades to blue as the Accela kicks into your cortex and all you can hear through the bliss; "Ruuussshhhh!!!"

It is an arcade game that was released on the millennium change and it is ported to the PS2 here. It is a shame that it is hidden into a collection and not released as standalone. It features fun sci-fi courses with hidden tunnels to explore. The cars go ridiculously fast and it is easy to crash and become a smoking husk flying through the the sky. Lovely electronic music and sound effects throughout.
The cars can sprout wings to help stabilize mid-air or do spins. Stunt Mode is a huge panopticon stadium where you can launch the car and spin it so fast the centrifugal force has got to be arcing 10 Gs on the robot driver.
The true treasure is the splitscreen Battle Mode. A good handful of cool stadiums to play on, a "Fog" dial which makes visibility a factor, and an assortment of creative weapons which are spawned around the courses with limited ammo. You've got: -Default Slow Gun -Green Plasma Gun -Minigun -Glowy Mine Layer -Ram Impact Device -Homing Missile Launcher -Explody Bouncy Balls!! -360 Degree Bass Cannon
Me and my wife have a passionate rivalry with this game and nothing beats the cybernetic thrill of trying to blindside her with the Rammer equipped to my car going 200 Kmph as she has got the Bass Cannon and could launch my car into Haibane if she can time it to my approach velocity.
