Good predecessor to a famous series

Platform:

Arcade version.

Graphics/Sound:

This is more or less the predecessor of Metal Slug so it features some really kickass art. The character style is a bit different though, less cartoony, this feels more like a classic video game. But much of the Scenery already reminds me of Metal Slug

Gameplay:

Again, being Metal Slug's ancestor this is quite obviously a run and gun action game, and it also features the co-op option. Still I think the game feels different than Metal Slug. First off you always have an arsenal of two powerful guns, which makes your character extremely badass right from the start. Once you beat the game you start over from beginning with a higher rank. I have to admit we stopped there, so I don't know if the difficulty changes in the second walkthrough.

Conclusion:

It's a very cool and good looking arcade shooter, and I had a lot of fun playing through this in co-op. The story if it could be called that might be a bit uninspired, which might be why the game seems mostly vanished to obscurity compared to Metal Slug. But apart from that it' as goods as some of the Metal Slug games.
