Great, Challenging, But Rewarding And Doable Platformer
This review is for the Arcade version

Preliminary: I'm nervous because people say it's so hard it's not fun. However, the Look and Sound are so nice, as I noticed when I playtested it on the arcade machine a while back. I'm playing it now and yea, the one hit kills is never good. I like how frequent and varied the power-ups are, and the gameplay so far is nice. At least they had a doable first level, hate when games start with brutal difficulty. As one expects with an arcade game, fast tight responsive controls for quick back-and-forths. The first boss was manageable, even if took a lot of hits.

Day 1

Welp I already beat the second boss and still enjoying myself and everything's been intuitive and haven't had to abuse savestates. Hmmm. Interesting that Willow, which I just played, doesn't give as bad of a rap for being super difficult? I guess it's the one hit kill thing. And/or there's just a reasonable difficulty curve and the later levels are about to brutalize me maybe?

I'm so grateful that power-ups transfer between levels. And that power-ups continue to be frequent. Oh and it's cute you can bounce on the heads of many enemies lol. …

enter image description here I love this "world map" type thing between levels. And I like the temple-esque Look on one of the stages. Tho the glide of your jumps got a bit frustrating at times, it was easy to get used to and I quite liked it for hovering to a ledge when needed. The Sound and Look continued to be excellent and always keep an exciting vibe to the game. New power-ups and whatnot too. Thank goodness for infinite coins :-p The keys and scrolls you need to collect never got too frustratingly hidden or mazey to keep moving, staying in the realm of intuitive gameplay. There is a jump in, I think, Dungeon that is so hard to get??? I don't get it. And I see a comment about that very jump on YouTube. But already bouncing on enemies and projectiles had been saving me left and right, especially during the twin boulder guys boss, but here again it saved me.

The final level definitely is quite intense, but if you take each little step at a time to let the enemies spawn (thank goodness not the tedious infinite spawn of so many of its contemporaries) and take care of them (and use savestates as needed haha), it's doable. It maintained its fun, and allowed for quick dodges and last minute kills, which is all I look for. Oh wait.. the Castle wasn't the last level lol. NOW is the last level (right as our guests get back to the house argh)

Cute but cheesy ending. And then nice tune for hi score entry enter image description here

Look: 9/10 Not that it was like sentimentally good, but consistently great and good colors.

Sound: 9/10 Not sentimental, but good stuff.

Play: 9/10 I wish it didn't have one hit kills, but it's my kind of intuitive, pick up and play, feed coins action platformer

Feel: 9/10 I like that I have access to the arcade machine and I had fun throughout the playthrough!

Attachment: 9/10 I could see us playing this at my parents' house regularly!

Overall: 9/10
