On the baddest streets of the city they know your name. You are lean and mean... the karate master they call the Vigilante! Your turf was left alone. Your friends and neighbors lived in peace. Until the Rogue gang got too big for their britches. You chilled, hoping things wouldn't get too rough. No such luck. They've taken your girlfriend Maria, and there's only one thing you can do... get her back... anyway you can! You have fists of steel! Legs like pistons! And courage that just won't quit! They've taken your girlfriend Maria, and there's only one thing you can do... get her back... anyway you can! You have fists of steel! Legs like pistons! And courage that just won't quit! You will need all three because the Rogues are waiting with knives, guns and a whole bunch of nasty punks. And you'll have to fight fast. If the Rogues make it back to their headquarters before you rescue Maria, all hope will be lost. But catch them first and you'll fight the leader of the Rogues. Win Maria... and your turf... will remain safe. Feel any pressure? No way. You're the Vigilante! Less

Great Backgrounds, But Little To Offer Besides That
This review is for the Arcade version

Preliminary: The backgrounds are incredibblleeeee, and the billboards in the background too. We shall see tho. The Brawler genre, as much as I loved Double Dragon for the NES growing up, just hasn't been clicking much with me. I think it's best enjoyed with at least one other person at an actual arcade--not so much for home/personal gaming. We shall see. Hopefully the cool backgrounds make up for the lackluster sprites, overly stereotypical arcade tune, and my uncertainty about the brawler genre in general.

enter image description here I got to this point in the second stage and called it quits heh. I really liked the main character's sprite, and most of the Look overall. But the Brawler aspect was old already by the first boss, as I repeatedly had to jump-kick him, the Sound wasn't pushing me forward, and the nunchuks got old quite quickly. Oh and the collision masks were surprisingly bad, it's like the core of their body not any other part of their body. I would expect more from an arcade game! Moving on...

Look: 8/10 Really where the game shines, even if the UI and enemy sprites were meh.

Sound: 7/10

Play: 6.5/10

Play: 6.5/10

Feel: 6.5/10 Not the first, and certainly not the best. Tho that Look gives a nice boost to this.

Attachment: 6.5/10 I mean I got through a stage and a half.. and there are only 5 stages. Plus I really like those backgrounds. So there's some chance I'd return to finish this.

Overall: 6.9/10

I also been playing this a bit the past month or so, not knowing it was a successor to Kung-Fu Master (Or Kung-Fu as it is known by it's Black Box title) This is a much easier time to manage playing and a nicer slightly 'anime' looking game and a bit easier but it still is beyond my ability to complete. It's a bit lower on the threshold of TG-16 titles but worth checking out for 15 mins

Made to this stage (I think third stage) but these bikers are out for blood and will SLAYenter image description here
