You'll need something like 10,000 quarters to finish the arcade version of this. Thanks to the magic of MAME, I've been able to get past the first level.

Amazing Concept and Voice Acting Bogged Down By Usual Coin Eating Antics

Preliminary: I absolutely love the Look and premise of this, but like its contemporary reviewers noted it's just so blatantly a coin eater. I'm also excited for when shooters get more than 6 directions/more directionally fluid.

Lol! Ok no this is worth a proper playthrough. I was gonna pass it off at first but I just love the Look of this. And the parody of gameshows and violence on TV is excellent. "Brand New Toaster!" and the blood when you kill the enemies. And the "woos" and other voice parts lolll. This is so much more than [simply] a coin eating dual joystick shooter. This might just be a playtest, with knowledge that it's worth a 3 star and a replay with a friend. But we shall see.

Ok yea welp scratch that again lol, as neat as this was with a lot of potential, the level design is just obnoxious. The first few rooms were manageable but now it's just such an onslaught... Maybe more frequent power-ups would've solved it? I mean I get a lot of power-ups but they weren't saving me in this room. And to top it off they hid a mine under the money... Now, I can just have infinite coins and start right where I was, and with the great Look concept and Sound that might be worth it, but I'm getting the feeling it'll just devolve into frequent petty deaths and more of the same in each room.

Look: 8/10 I really like how you "walk on" the UI :-p

Sound: 8.5/10 The voice part boost this.

Play: 6.5/10 Neat for a bit, but just too much a coin eater mindset/late-80s difficulty mindset.

Feel: 7.5/10 The satirical side and blood and absurdity all bolster the Feel.

Attachment: 7/10 I do want to play this with someone else and see what they think but without stronger weapon upgrades, I don't see this very replayable for me.

Overall: 7.5/10

Completion: 4 rooms

Playtime: 12 mins

Jeff Gerstmann is right. This game is incredible. Better than Geometry Wars or any other dual-joystick shooter. No nostalgia here - I played it for the first time in 2013.
