Art, civilization, human culture as a whole... It all peaked with Joust.
Look: 8/10
Great, oddly futuristic-seeming look with cool platforms and good sprites. It was a struggle getting a screenshot, not many "breaks" in the gameplay except when you clear a screen and one egg just chilling there ha... which wouldn't be much of a screenshot lol.
Sound: 7/10 Didn't really notice it tbh, which means at least it wasn't annoying heh.
Edit: oh! On the arcade machine I noticed zomby uses sounds from this for a favorite track of mine!
Play: 7/10 I love that the 2-player game can simultaneously be cooperative and competitive/friendly fire. The only thing you really need to know is the button lets you flap, you can only move horizontally with the joystick, and you want to try to be higher up when you collide with an enemy. Also, be sure to collect the egg that drops when you defeat them, so it doesn't respawn a new enemy. Once I got the hang of the concept, I had fun for a bit. But it got old quickly by the third wave and I stopped playing even tho I still had lives left. I could see this being a lot of fun 2-player, hopefully we can do …

But it got old quickly by the third wave and I stopped playing even tho I still had lives left. I could see this being a lot of fun 2-player, hopefully we can do that at my family's tonight. But as for now, and in terms of this solo chronology project, it wasn't a favorite. While the controls are tight and all the mechanics are intentional, I don't really love the "skid stop" or the flapping aspect... or the platform collision masks. Gave it a slight boost because I see the potential with the 2-player mode.
Feel: 6/10 I mean, I had fun for a bit. And I love the look, as odd as it is. But I didn't really get into it, which says something about the Feel. Maybe this will change once I get a chance to try the 2-player mode.
Attachment: 7/10 Perhaps it's the look, perhaps it's the description of the 2-player mode that I want to try (which says something), and perhaps it's the unique look/concept/gameplay--but I could see myself potentially returning to this even tho I didn't really like it all that much this time. We shall see...
Completion: 3 waves. On the actual arcade machine score was 20,550 Playtime: 15 mins
Semplicissimo, punitivo e vecchio ma è ancora uno spacco, anche in single player.
Here's a fun little experiment.
Look through your rated played games and find your favourite game released before you were born.
For me, it's probably Tetris, released mere months before I hatched, but here's a special shout out to Joust, an immensely fun game, especially in multiplayer, released in 1982.
How about yoooooou???
One of those money-grab titles with a silly premise, poor execution, unmemorable score, and well, nothing to recommend really.
