Another Impressive '83 Arcade Game

Look: 8/10 Cute, functional look. Nothing special but I like that it didn't distract with too much going on. Effective food item sprites for throwing, cute sprites for characters and enemy chefs, and decent colors. Bumped this slightly, since the gameplay is the focus not so much the look.

Look: 8/10 Cute, functional look. Nothing special but I like that it didn't distract with too much going on. Effective food item sprites for throwing, cute sprites for characters and enemy chefs, and decent colors. Bumped this slightly, since the gameplay is the focus not so much the look.

Sound: 7/10 Cute and fit the theme. I liked the sped up Instant Replay jingle too, made it cute to watch it. This could maybe even be an 8.

Play: 8/10 Gave me that Splat! feel but with a set goal (I always like set goals, where you can also go for higher Score if desired but don't have to; I had fun picking up tomatoes and throwing them at the chefs even when unnecessary ha). I like that if you're carrying food, like a watermelon, at the end of a level, you are still carrying it in the next level :-p It's funny that the enemy chefs throw food at each other too. The difficulty definitely increased around Level 15, I can only imagine how many levels there are in total! The whole game is fast-paced, so when the difficulty rises as you get closer to Level 30, uff dah.

Feel: 8/10 Omg bahaha I love the Instant Replays, so cute. And holy crap--arcade games of this era really outshine console and home computer games: there are 125 level! And I think I wanna get through them all, tho that's quite a lofty goal this early in my chronology project. Plus, I am getting the Runescape itch, super nervous that will affect my focus on this. That's a really long goal, but the fact I was even considering accomplishing it says something. It got to be a bit too hard for the fun around Level 25... to imagine level 125!!!

Attachment: 8/10 As impressive and fun as this was, it eventually reached a "wall" of too much difficulty for me. I stopped at Level 25. The fact I wanna get further, and try it again some time, says a lot! Fun game. Plus, like the last couple, definitely a game I can have for pick-up-and-play at get-togethers. It'd be a lot of fun with a group.

Completion: To Level 25. Score 222,000 Playtime: ~35 mins
