Your divers have collected treasure from the ocean floor. On their way back up to surface they are attacked by hostile fish, sharks and enemy submarines. It is, therefore, your task to collect your divers with your own submarine. While doing that you are not totally defenceless since your sub is able to fire bullets. But you have to watch out for your oxygen level which is shown at the bottom of the screen - once it is depleted, you die. So, every now and then you have to surface to replenish your oxygen supply. But you will lose one of the rescued divers if you surface with less than six frogmen onboard. After having rescued six divers, you move on to the next stage. As the game progresses, the then enemies become faster and more numerous. Less

One Of The Best 80s Console Shoot Em Ups
This review is for the Atari 2600 version

Look: 8/10 I thought I had already played this based on the videos/description, but definitely not. It surprised me. I always love the simple Atari look, especially when a sunset/sunrise vibe background. Otherwise just functional tbh but I'm a sucker for those Activision backgrounds. enter image description here

Ohhhh, right, I must be thinking of the text adventure that was forced to change its name to Sea Search because this was already out? Something like that...

Sound: 7/10 Lol is it just me or does it sound like a horse neigh when you hit one of the enemy subs? Overall, functional sounds.

Play: 9/10 Responsive controls, fast-paced shoot em up, usual Atari flawless coding (and luckily without their annoying attempts at adventure, just straight up Atari action). I love when in shoot em ups like this allow you to move around and turn both left and right (now if only there were bombs or ways to shoot below, oh wait is there... and wait.. i swearrrrr I played this as an arcade game or something very similar hmmm... nope there isn't). Always love when controls and collision masks are tight and responsive enough that I can quickly shoot back when an enemy is almost …

Always love when controls and collision masks are tight and responsive enough that I can quickly shoot back when an enemy is almost gonna collide with me etc, turning back and forth super quick, some of the '83 C64 and arcade games were doing this too and I'm loving it. It took me a minute to realize that once you get a sub full of saved humans, you go back up to the top not just for oxygen but also to save em properly. Fun that there are varied enemy sizes and some that shoot back etc. Is it just me or the people actively trying not to get saved? Ha.

Feel: 9/10 This surprised me. The Activision background, tight controls, surprisingly fun (tho typical) gameplay. Nice change of pace from a night of mediocre games like Xonox's Robin Hood and Sir Lancelot. It's rare that in an arcade-style game that I actually wanna go for the high score, rather than quickly get all the people and back up to the surface. Says something about the gameplay.

Attachment: 9/10 I had to quit this even when I had some lives left, cuz Michael came home and it was time to fit in a little bit of The Wire. The fact I was eager to keep playing it, and to play it the next day, says a lot! Welp, upon returning to this the next day, I was instantly hooked again! I love this! This might be my favorite shoot em up yet! At least of the non-scrolling ones. Wow. So simple yet so fun and geared right for me with the difficulty settings etc. I was hooked on trying to get a higher score, rather than having a set goal, which is very rare for me. Eventually, of course, I had to set a set goal even tho I still had lives. Plus, it's simple and straightforward enough to be a pick-up-and-play go-to for get-togethers! All around perfect for right now and what I'm looking for in games. Can't wait to have my brothers try it when they visit next, tho I doubt they will see what I see in it ha. Ironically I was in a bad mood all day today and right now I'm hungry, anxiously awaiting a text back so I can start my evening, and frustrated with some sudden pseudo-plans for tomorrow. Wasn't even in the mood for afk or active runescape. But somehow, this still clicks! At about 34k Score, I decided to go for 100k, even tho thats a super lofty score goal for me. When I got to about 58k Score, I heard back from my friend, so looks like I will have to savestate (which I have not been having to use, a sign of a fun game!) and return to this tonight! Welp, I did return to it but didn't finish my goal of 100k (well, let's be honest: my attempt at savestating for the first time on Atari 2600 emulator failed ha). Still an amazing game and will definitely return to it to finish this goal.

Completion: a bit over 60k Score Playtime: A bit over an hour
