Although the third game in the Sabreman series, it was the first completed and withheld due to fears that sales of Sabre Wulf would be affected. The player, as Sabreman, has forty days to collect objects throughout a castle and brew a cure to his werewolf curse. He turns into a werewolf at night, as indicated by an onscreen timer, and returns to human form during the day. Each room is depicted in monochrome on its own screen and consists of blocks to climb and obstacles to avoid while the player solves puzzles and retrieves items for the cure. Read less

Knight Lore was released on the ZX Spectrum in November of 1984. For the record, Super Mario Bros. was released ten months later, in September of 1985. The latter is, of course, proof that 80s games can still be a lot of fun today. There’s a night and day difference between a timeless classic and a relic from the past. …

The latter is, of course, proof that 80s games can still be a lot of fun today. There’s a night and day difference between a timeless classic and a relic from the past. If Super Mario Bros. is the obvious timeless classic, well, you can imagine what that makes Knight Lore.

Wow, this is absolutely beautiful the "3d" (isometric) graphics are the best I've seen so far, it was so enthralling to look through some of the walkways that frame a screen. Usual Speccy/Atic Atac repetitive sound effects that suck you in. But absurdly, tank directional controls (in some ways it's well-done, but I eventually tired of it). Yes, I mean …

Usual Speccy/Atic Atac repetitive sound effects that suck you in. But absurdly, tank directional controls (in some ways it's well-done, but I eventually tired of it). Yes, I mean like Resident Evil where you turn directions then go forward. It's interesting how different (yet also the same heh) each Sabreman game has been. Potentially absolutely amazing if you don't mind the controls and are willing to devote the time. But for me, moving on. To see what I mean about the look (and the gameplay, for that matter)
