Beat SNES version using a walkthrough because the game sucked. I ended up with shuriken from the 1st level and died when it boomeranged back to me. What the hell? Why is self friendly fire even a thing? So the shuriken is less than worthless. Tried out the knife and axe; knife kills dragon heads in 2 hits while the axe takes 3. Knife it is then. After beating a few levels with no obvious way to progress I figured some levels had multiple exits and went to the walkthrough to find out. Pretty much used the guide for the rest of the game to get it over with, except the bosses which were reasonably easy. The puzzles were obnoxious, especially the complete nonsense involving pushing barrels while swimming. The platforming was ridiculously floaty with every surface feeling like ice, and the combat was tedious with the sword being used like a golf club and having to throw secondary weapons to hit anything higher. The only thing good about this game is the ability to return to previous stages, otherwise it is a lousy Castlevania.
