This is another previously-Xbox-exclusive first-exposure for me (this PC Game Pass subscription really is nice). Two acts in, Gears is giving me a better first impression than Halo Reach did, mostly due to an apparently-much-higher level of effort put into the remaster.

The game has kind of a weird control scheme, and melee attacks could use a bit more "oomph" (trying to use the chainsaw is unpredictable enough that it doesn't seem worth it). While the gameplay seems competent, I think I like how Uncharted does cover shooting a bit more than this. In Gears, if you're not always hiding behind something, you're guaranteed to be dead. Nathan Drake feels like he has a little more freedom to move around during a gunfight.

Clunky, adolescent story, irritating music, unlikable characters, wave after wave after wave after wave of same enemies, repetitive level design, good graphics, good frame rate, some wow moments (train level, when big monster appear first time), boring final boss.

I think I am getting old.

Now let´s go back to some Mudrunner...

Beat on hardcore during free trial of xbox game pass right after Gears of War 4. I overall liked 4 better though the games are pretty much the same with respect to gameplay, and what I liked and disliked. I did like the survival horror elements with the kryll though I felt there could have been more of that. They ruined the final boss fight and I thus hated the fight. How is it they are driven off by even a small amount of light at nighttime yet seem to be able to fly around with near impunity during dusk? The level of illumination difference between the light and shade during the final boss is so small that it was obnoxiously difficult to tell whether or not you were safe. That fight was ridiculously hard and took me quite a few tries. Overall good game but with unnecessarily awkward controls, and again I completely gave up on using the chainsaw because the change in look controls kept getting me killed.

About halfway through Act IV on Co-Op INSANE. Been challenging in places but more so in the sections where we get separated. Absolute blast of a game in C-Op.
