Operation C is a 1991 run-and-gun game.Konami, the producer and distributor of the game, have done a great job.The story of the game is as follows. The player assumes the role of Bill Rizer, who must neutralize an enemy force that is secretly hiding an alien cell in his base. Japanese Deconstruction Like previous Contra games for the NES, the exact details of the game's settings vary between October materials: in the Japanese version, the enemy is described as the army of an unnamed hostile country that wants to use an alien cell to produce weapons; The American version is that the enemies are "working for a foreign entity that calls itself the Black snake". Similarly, the identity of the main character was changed from Bill (player 1 character from previous arcade and console games) to Lance (player 2 character from previous installments). The gameplay is as follows.in this game consisting of 5 sections, you are trying to kill the creatures and pass the section. The music of the game is beautiful. If you are not too obsessed with graphics and you like retro games, this game is for you.My rating for the game: 10/10 (y) Good games to everyone 🙂

A very solid Contra offering for the Game Boy indeed.

Operation C does a pretty good job of sticking to the series’ formula; a half-naked guy with big guns kills stupid bad alien things over stages that alternate between side-scrollers and top-downs. The stages are about as long as those found in the NES games. Some of the stages even feel yanked out of Super C, a trend so common …

Some of the stages even feel yanked out of Super C, a trend so common for all the game’s assets you’ll sometimes think you were playing a monochrome, less detailed version of it that fits in your pants.

Five (Mostly 'Super C' inspired) levels ported to Game Boy

Rather fun game, the first two levels are fairly easy it then gets hard pretty quick.

Good control and very good visibility of projectiles with no flicker on the Game Boy video hardware.

You get a pretty powerful homing weapon which is basically the spread/shotgun that tracks any target, in addition to this you can upgrade your weapons to a second level (increasing your rate of fire) by collecting a second power up of the same type. You can also farm for credits/lives (if patient) but it takes a very long time. you get 2 continues and the konami code enables a level select.

enter image description here The first three levels very much resemble Super C's first three as well, tough to make it past them though

While this is an average run and gun game it's quite impressive for a port on this particular handheld platform, it plays nicely and looks and sounds great. It's a shame it's a bit on the short side. It would seem that it's longevity would be based on it's jump in difficulty of each stage. Not uncommon for a handheld game from the era.
