Played through Mario 1, 2, and 3 recently. First time start-to-finish for each one. Mario 3 is definitely a bit better than the first two, though I found the weirdness of Mario 2 more memorable. Played through Mario 1, 2, and 3 recently. First time start-to-finish for each one. Mario 3 is definitely a bit better than the first two, though I found the weirdness of Mario 2 more memorable. The world map in Mario 3 is really cute, and so is the tanuki suit. The whole game having little "stage play" motifs is a nice touch. Gotta admit I felt a lot of the game was pretty repetitive though, and the whole "sameyness" of Mario levels in general is always something I've never cared for in the franchise. (Got super tired of those castles and airships!) The game is also rather easy to get through thanks to all the items you can quickly stock up on, but I'm okay with that.
