Preliminary: The Look reminds me of Phantasy Star so far, and the music is great too. I know I keep saying it but it seems the reign of the NES is over as I reach the end of 89. I expect Genesis/Turbografx level stuff now! I'm excited for the upcoming Ys 1 and 2 re-release on Turbografx. Anyway, this game looks very long and to have a variety of gameplay perspectives/modes, so I'm hoping if one or two aren't as nice as this beginning top-down part, they don't bog it down too much.
Good thing the music is so good cuz the pace of the walk is so slow lol (like Phantasy Star 2). Lol and the plotline starts very silly/predictable, like we didn't wait at all for the reveal of who we really are.
Well okay I really liked the town gameplay style. I'm not sure how I feel about the first-person adventuring outside of town, and most of all iffy about combat. Felt like I'm thrown in surrounded by enemies so no matter what planning or leveling I do I couldn't prevent some damage? Maybe I will figure more out about it.
It sure is beautiful but yea the combat system is pretty lame. The collision masks feel quite bad and my character feels sluggish. At least the controls are responsive for quick turnaround and attacks. We shall see.
Yeaaaa no this game would've been so much better as a turn-based game. Nope. The combat sucks imo. Moving on. So much potential too!
