Platform:
Genesis
Description:
An eco-shmup where biological weapons fight biological weapons, with gruesome but outstanding visuals.
Liked:
The visual style of this game makes it unique. It a lot of maggot creatures here, and nothing really pleasant to look at, the landscapes are rotten, post apocalyptic worlds you wouldn't want to live in. But it's presented in marvelous style and detail thats awe inspiring. The soundtrack fully supports the hostile atmosphere with eerie dissonant sounds. The powerup system is very simple and offers just 4 weapons and a very short powerup tree, but a choice of 4 ships at the beginning that changes the weapons.
Disliked:
The difficulty isn't very balanced, there is sections that are suddenly very hard, interlaced with easy, borderline boring sections. And while the unpleasant atmosphere is one of the game's main selling points, it's also what doesn't make me wanna go back to playing it anytime soon.
Summary:
It's a fairly standard horizontal shmup, with few complaints, but also few strong points on the gameplay side. The theme and atmosphere is what makes this game unique and worthwhile, or if you are put off by the gross creatures on screen, what might drive you away …

I'll recommend having a look, but playing it once was enough for me.
