I severely enjoyed what this game had to offer. I liked the top-down shooting, which can be a bit flawed, but I think it added a layer of challenge for the game that wasn't much difficult that you need frame precision to boost.
The rest of the game was quite fun and difficult at the same time. I'm just glad the game doesn't cheap on difficulty curve the more you progress and is a bit laid back letting you adjust. the Music is a banger. I can't understand any of the digitized voices.
And while the game is an early Genesis title, a late 1980s game, the graphics are solid and has aged fairly well.
Finally getting around to some Thunder Force shmupage. This was the first one on the Genesis, and it's half pretty good and half pretty bad. I'm not a fan of the overhead search and destroy levels, which have your ship going way too fast and there's of course a hundred enemies everywhere. The regular horizontal scroller levels are still hard of course, but it feels much more manageable. I've heard TF3 and 4 are better overall.
