What were the developers thinking?

Genuine question, what were they trying to make this game to be? Genuine question, what were they trying to make this game to be? You're not going to find challenge here because the game is easy and every pattern is as predictable as ever. as much as people will find this to be a nit-pick because old Shoot'em Ups are hard, this one is fairly enjoyable as well. the controls work great, and the stages are designed well enough not to be boring when the game revisits the same stages later on.

The game is not lengthy. you should be able to finish the game in about 25-30 minutes but this is per Round. see, you need to complete the same levels 5 times in a row in order to Beat the whole game. meaning 25*5=125/60 ≈ more than 2hours.

That wouldn't have been bad if the game tried to do something new each time you revisit but no. Same thing but you're more powerful, literally indestructible that you pass by every stage easily. not to mention the occasional audio drop.

Truxton. I love Truxton. The metal- looking skull, the music, the cool space enemies. Sadly I don't own a copy of this game, but it's being remade!

If you played a different Toaplan shmup, you probably know that their games are deceptively simple. There is little to learn when it comes to powerups and other gameplay aspects. This game offers you a gun and bombs. Now go kill aliens, and don't get killed by them. It's got awesome visuals for my taste, and a very tight art direction, everything feels very consistent. Details like your ship changing it's appearance with the current weapon make it feel very polished. The weapon selection makes it almost feel like a Compile shmup, which can't be a bad thing.

Disliked:

The difficulty level is really a bumpy road, with some thick stones laying in the way. The minibosses from the first level on are really a pain. And it doesn't help that you have one-hit-deaths combined with a setback to a checkpoint. At least sometimes you don't have to kill the miniboss anymore when you are killed by it. The rest of the levels is enjoyable though.

Summary:

I really enjoyed this one, it has good controls a great art style and awesome weapons. If you like space shooters this one is one of the best I have played, but you need to be able to cope with the one hit deaths.
