Moon Cresta is an arcade game released in 1980 by Nichibutsu. A moving starfield gives the impression of vertical scrolling, but the game is a fixed shooter in the vein of Namco's Galaxian. Incentive Software published a version of this arcade game for many 8-bit home computers of the time. Dempa also released a port of both Moon Cresta and Terra Cresta for the X68000. It was also released on the Wii Virtual Console in Japan on March 9, 2010 and PlayStation 4 (Arcade Archives) in 2014.

Very dynamic and with great sound design
This review is for the Arcade version

I am not exactly a fan of fixed shooters but among those I've played so far this is by far the most interesting in a lot of ways, highly dynamic. I actually enjoy the docking and different sequences and such. And the sound design is great, the effects are almost musical in a way.

Some have praised the interlude docking segments as making it stand out among Galaxian, Galaga, etc. But I've never been the fan of the delicately-dock-the-ship gameplay, most of all in the middle of a shoot em up. Plus the wait between shooting makes the game feel tedious. That being said, it's a solid fixed shoot em up, with complex enemy mechanics and an overall good game. I got through 2 interlude docking parts, then read that it cycles infinitely, and decided to move on.
