"Monty Mole was imprisoned due to his coal theft in Wanted: Monty Mole, and rescued by Sam Stoat in Monty is Innocent. Now he has to get out of Britain while he still can. Like the original, the game is a flick-screen platformer with puzzly leanings. Learning the movement paths of enemies, and the timing sequence of the crushers, and working out a path across the screen by using the offered ropes and platforms. Not all parts of all screens can be accessed at once. You will need to collect money and other items along the way. Before starting the game, you must choose five items from a selection of 21 to form your 'Freedom Kit' – correct selections are essential to complete the game, and a degree of trial and error is required to know which ones are correct." --mobygames.com Read less

Hubbard's music is always so good

But as for the gameplay, as good as this is... I just have tired of the Manic Miner type platformers, moving on from the microcomputer era to the console era indeed. I feel bad! But it is what it is. Once you have a taste of something like Super Mario Bros...

Omg wait... but the music is so fricking incredible. And the animation when you jump is so cute. And the look of everything is actually really good for a C64 game. Oh god am I going to suffer through thissss (at least they give a lot of lives.... considering the usual Manic Miner esque difficulty... and clunky jump mechanic where you can't affect your jump mid-jump etc etc etc...)

Some of the sound effects are super annoying like the tubes that slam down

I almost pushed through but stopped here. Michael came home and talked with me and I dropped down from above without realizing I'm quite trapped here. Maybe there's a way out but before I get too sucked in, it's best that I move on ha enter image description here

(Oh, but this is the best of the 1985 Manic Miner type platformers imo. An end of an era with the C64 and Speccy platformers. Despite the tacky jump mechanic, exploited with thin pillars that you had to manipulate the utterly atrocious collision masks to get through, like step off the pillar you're on to be able to jump to the right to the next one because you have no mid-jump controls etc., I have a soft spot for these. And this is one of the standout ones, so def worth a try)
