I adored the first game (‘Serial Cleaner’) and have played through it several times. The simple 2D graphic style, the funky 70s soundtrack, the tongue-in-cheek yet quite intriguing underlying plot… it all combined to make a really fun experience.

This sequel, however, has none of the charm and silliness of its predecessor. The low quality 3D graphics don’t help to sell the attempt at an apparently more serious tone and also makes for a less enjoyable gaming experience, lacking the immediate clarity of what was or wasn’t an interactive object or obstacle. The soundtrack is lacklustre too and some levels’ audio loops are just far too short (I’ve never turned off a game’s music before but I had to for this game).

I really wanted to love this game as much as the first and really tried to at least like it but after four levels I had to admit defeat and stop playing. I just wasn’t having a good time with it.
