It finally clicked
Just recently started a fresh new server with a large group of friends. Before I always played it with just two persons and quickly gave up after building the first simple base structure.

Just recently started a fresh new server with a large group of friends. Before I always played it with just two persons and quickly gave up after building the first simple base structure.
This time, with eight players around it's a whole different story and recently I just caught myself playing for six hours straight completly forgetting about the time.
The graphics are iconic and timeless, the music and atmosphere serene and nostalgic. It's a sandbox, thus there's no real goal but the one you find for yourself. Finding beautiful animals and bring them home, learning about new ressources to grind and use to decorate your house were mine personally.
Minecraft is a Metaverse in the sense that you come online just to hang out, the social aspect is passively implied by the core mechanism of base building. As such, it has a wholesomeness to it that's hard to be compared. I finally grasped the appeal of this classic.
