Amazing Side Game But Really Short

Rating 4/5

I am a huge fan of the Saints Row franchise and this game was really fun to play as Gat and Kinzie. It was on the shorter side but it was meant as a side game not a main-line title. I loved the quests and activities and all the super powers. I am close to platinuming this game and it was bit of a grind but it was worth it. Definitely recommend this game if you like Saints row or want to get into a Saints row mainline game after this.

It’s totally fine

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with this, there’s just nothing exceptional, either. You get exactly what it says on the tin: Saint’s Row gameplay, but in hell. Just like IV, it does a better job of super powered gameplay than most superhero based games, but the main thrust of the gameplay is to do distraction type missions. Even in an expansion …

Just like IV, it does a better job of super powered gameplay than most superhero based games, but the main thrust of the gameplay is to do distraction type missions. Even in an expansion this short, solely working through those narrative-lite-if-at-all missions got boring part way through.

More saints for everyone

I'm a big fan of the SR series since SR3. Gat Out of Hell is more of the same - actually, it's pretty much a short version of SR3 with a demonic re-skin.

It's not that it's bad - It isn't - but I wanted new stuff. Most activities are repeats from the earlier games, and while the main story is cool and funny, and there are nice jokes sprinkled around, the re-skin doesn't refresh things enough for my tastes. It's still fun to do "torment fraud" and flying around feels nice, but I suggest playing this game as a diversion in bursts rather than spending a lot of time on it all at once.
