The game is old, but like fine wine, it gets better with age. The simplicity of the game, the uncluttered graphics make the game really fun. Played in LAN with friends, had a lot of fun. I love the physics that make driving really instinctive. There's a real sense of speed that I don't find in modern racing games.

I Finally Beat this Game and it Only Took 20 Years

A fun racer with a steep (if not necessarily high) learning curve that rewards mastery. I obviously can't separate my experience playing the game now from my nostalgia for playing the game as a kid, but I think it's legitimately a good racer, with a wide array of vehicles and maps—the maps are especially diverse, not just aesthetically but mechanically, …

A fun racer with a steep (if not necessarily high) learning curve that rewards mastery. I obviously can't separate my experience playing the game now from my nostalgia for playing the game as a kid, but I think it's legitimately a good racer, with a wide array of vehicles and maps—the maps are especially diverse, not just aesthetically but mechanically, with a number of different obstacles, terrains, and shortcuts to master.

Also a surprisingly complex market system that the game does not explain to you at all and that if you aren't interacting with from the beginning you won't be able to get the most out of (which the game also does not tell you).

Also I got my first ever Platinum trophy for this game, which is cool.

Episode 1 Racer is a game that my brother and I played a lot as kids, and I was really keen to revisit it as a break while playing Bloodborne. I was also interested to see how the game held up difficulty wise, and how my racing skills held up. Well, I'm going to put it down to half the Nintendo controller being nuts and half me being older and learned all the courses by muscle memory because I won first place in every race first time, apart from that one course that if you fall off the top track it makes you lose because the bottom track sends you on a super long way round (real ones know what I mean). The racing is pretty great though, the pods respond really well and feel fast and dangerous. The music samples of Episode 1 are also pretty stellar too. But it was still alot of fun blasting through courses as Anakin and actually paying attention to my parts this time rather than just winging it like I did back in the day. The racing is pretty intense and I did feel it was a testament to my skill that I won, as you basically can make 2-3 crashes a course at maximum without losing the prized first place. Definitely a game I'm glad to have replayed and now have all the courses unlocked for the next Boys Night (tm).

I had this on my backlog for a while and to my surprise it had been re-released on the Switch. This is a fun, crazy arcade-style racer with a great sense of speed. Plus it's an awesome Star Wars game. I had to restart the game upon realizing you could race for different rewards, which wasn't a big deal because the game is rather short, which I like. My only issue is that it can be a bit rough around the edges, particularly when it comes to sharp turns. Also, the menus are really not intuitive at all. The bonus levels really bump up the difficulty and you can't earn money from previous races to grind for money to upgrade your pod. Recommended for racing and Star Wars fans alike.

Play the Dreamcast version of this masterpiece.

I played this game as a kid and it still holds up. I don't know what to say, it just feels really good to play.

I played the PC version as a kid, but I recommend playing the Dreamcast version on an emulator because the pc version is a pain in the ass to get running and the Dreamcast version …
