Enjoying the new DLC, but I'm also feeling like it's time for Mario Kart 9. After a while, repainting the same thing over and over again has decreasing effectiveness, and that's what I'm starting to sense with this game. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is going to be one hard game to top, and the game still sells by the boatload, so I can see why they keep going with it. Likely Mario Kart 9 will be a launch title with the new Nintendo console in 2024 or 2025.

We just played the latest Mario Kart 8 DLC tracks and I just wanted to say the Yoshi's Island track gave me great joy. I was grinning all the way through.

My favourite gaming moment of the year so far.

After spending a few hours today playing the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC (yes, even the old DLC from a few months ago), I have come to the conclusion that Nintendo might have made as close to a perfect game as you can get with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

No, it's not the best game Nintendo has ever made.

No, it's not my favorite game of all time, or my favorite game on the Switch.

But this game is almost 10 years old. And it's still in the top ten best selling games EVERY SINGLE MONTH.

And turning it on again today, after it sat on my shelf for a while, I can see why. It's still so much fun. It still has a ton of content. It still provides hours of great gameplay.

The best part about Mario Kart is how anyone, ANYONE, regardless of their video game skill level or expertise, can pick up, play and win right away. My wife, not a big gamer at all, can beat me at Mario Kart. You can't say that for Breath of the Wild or Metroid Dread.

When all is said and done, Mario Kart 8 might be the time Nintendo created a perfect game. It's no surprise it still sells like mad even years later.

With each booster drop, Nintendo has added a new course. First we got the ninja track, then the ice cream track, then we got the Christmas track, and most recently the Yoshi's Island track. So I figure over the last two drops, we'll get some new tracks.

You know who could return from Mario Kart Wii? Diddy Kong.

You know who had an entire game full of cool tracks that Nintendo could maybe possibly grab from? Diddy Kong.

How hype would that be? Yo, here's your Diddy Kong Racing track with our jazz quartet playing David Wise music and you can see that one badger character flying through the sky! I would jump out of my chair.

Is that a licensing nightmare? I really don't know. Some stuff between Rare and Nintendo seems real peachy these days. Goldeneye is on Switch. Banjo is in Smash! Cross your fingers. Say your prayers. Let's get a Diddy Kong Racing track!

Played through all the new levels twice. Waluigi Stadium is my fav. I like that everything is drivable and the music is really leaning into that Double Dash wackiness. No real duds in this group. Even Mario Circuit which could be boring like Toad Circuit ends up being elevated by some unique hazards. Really like Yoshi's Island. I especially like …

Really enjoyed the two new cups! Even the Tour tracks that I tend not to like very much.

ALSO, the confirmation of at least 5 more characters being added. They have 5 chances to add Honey Queen back before I riot.
