I'm a bit conflicted about this second game. I know Pendulo has disowned it like a problematic child and hate the decisions they took for it back then. I can see why... but also, it's such a massive improvement in term of graphics and puzzles compared to the first one.

The plot continues to be one big movie reference, a trademark of the series, and manages to go into much weirder territories than retrieving the finger of a dead nun, somehow. I know people had a problem with the cliffhanger, personally, I didn't mind. I didn't hate the plot— I think the real sin here is the writing of the characters. Brian, still a massive loser even if he's rich now, becomes a cocky bastard who is a lot harder to like. I don't hate the idea of making him cocky, but while writing a main character for an adventure game, one must never forget that the player will spend the entire game with this character and, if by the end of it, you really can't tolerate him anymore, that's going to be a problem lol.

A lot of the side characters felt strangely egotistical and mean too; and when they don't, Brian takes advantage of them which makes you hate him more. While I don't hate the plot like I said, the turn it takes into sci-fi territory is a little abrupt, I think it could've been smoother.

So yeah, I really enjoyed the puzzles in this one and the landscapes of Mala Island and the other locations are gorgeous, but the game is much much longer than A Road Adventure and I swear, by the end of it I wanted to give up just because Brian was getting on my nerves. I'd already finished it before so I knew the ending. I still pushed through for completion's sake.

Good graphical adventure
This review is for the PC (Microsoft Windows) version

Good graphical adventure, but far too long with a cliffhanger ending. I like the characters as in the original, but I think there could have been more Gina and Brian interaction. Of course, I will play Runaway 3 when it eventually comes out.
