It's time to say goodbye to Mass Effect: Andromeda, for now. After two playthroughs, I am moving on. I'll miss Andromeda, and I know that I will return in the not too distant future, likely to replay this game and then to jump into the next. But for now, I am happy with two satisfying runs, with the various stories I experienced and the team I grew to love.

I'll leave one last video here. Fair warning, it has character spoilers. However, it is one of my favourite interactions with a crew member. In some ways it is a cliché conversation, but some things in life are cliché. It is one of the simple moments crafted in the game that left me feeling closer to my crew, and made the story of Andromeda feel all the more real.

Biotic powers make for some wonderful combat moments in every Mass Effect game. Andromeda is no exception.

I have trophy popups disabled on my system, as I pay little attention to them. However, the system still records an image at the time a trophy is obtained, so it's sometimes interesting to browse through the image gallery to see the type of images and scenarios captured. I thought that this fight was an apt time for a teamwork trophy to pop. It could have happened at any time, because I tend to frequently use power combinations to my advantage in every Mass Effect game, but it's fun to see that it popped when I was fighting an Architect rather than some lowly Kett Chosen.

My second favorite game in the series and one of the most over-criticized mainstream releases I've ever encountered.

I love the little intertextual inside jokes that are littered throughout this game. The level of nerdy fun is pretty high.

The little touches matter:

The original Mass Effect’s legendary Commander Shepard was an N7, and so was your character’s father, Alec Ryder.

From the article:

The original Mass Effect’s legendary Commander Shepard was an N7, and so was your character’s father, Alec Ryder.

But you? You’re not an N7. Not by a long shot. At least one veteran named August Bradley takes the time to let you know how much it pisses him off if you choose to wear the rank without earning it.

I just had a minor geek-out moment. I'll keep spoilers out of it but I found a character voiced by Ike Amadi. He likely voices a few characters but I found the one that sounds exactly like Javik. I didn't know it was Amadi at first but the more he talked the more I felt a vague emotional connection. And then it clicked, I knew it was Amadi, I knew it was Javik. And now I wish he would stick around a bit longer than I know this current quest line will last.

P.S. pro-tip for anyone yet to play ME3. Get Javik right away, and take both he and Liara with you everywhere. You won't regret it. Especially during the mission to Thessia. It's comedy gold. Plus it's super informative if you enjoy the general Mass Effect lore.
