Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance is the seventh game in the Kingdom Hearts series. It was originally developed for the Nintendo 3DS hand-held system. It is a direct sequel to Kingdom Hearts II, Kingdom Hearts coded, and the epilogue of Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep. Utilizing the 3DS's high-spec graphics processing, the game's graphics are near on-par with those of the PS2 titles, and make use of the system's 3D technology to add immersion when falling from high places and flying far distances. The 3D effect is used more for "going into the screen" rather than things popping out. Read less

Torn on this. This is the sixth KH game I've played and its presentation and gameplay are basically unchanged from the first outing. It's impossible to not feel fatigued after all the hours sunk hopping into the same Disney worlds and locking some new version of a keyhole without meaningful changes. I'm a fiend for story lore but my eyes keep glazing over every time a cutscene starts and the characters blabber on about hearts and darkness and blah blah blah.

BUT man is KH's combat incredible. Deceptively straightforward while providing multiple approaches to any encounter, especially with all the new features in DDD. Predicting I'll be addicted to this until the end and then give it 3/5.

Taking a break from the Resident Evil games to finally finish up the Kingdom Hearts series. Realizing these games are like comfort food for me. That Traverse Town theme starts playing and I'm back in middle school without a care in the world.

Taking a break from the Resident Evil games to finally finish up the Kingdom Hearts series. Realizing these games are like comfort food for me. That Traverse Town theme starts playing and I'm back in middle school without a care in the world.

DDD is one of those portable console entries where the selling point was "basically replay Kingdom Hearts but on the go." There isn't a ton here that's revolutionary in terms of storytelling or gameplay, so much of its unique charm is lost once it's ported up to a non-portable system. Still, having fun playing through a standard KH adventure, and am glad it's trying hard to clarify all of the series' overly complicated lore. We'll see if DDD ends up doing enough to make itself a strong standalone entry in the series or just an appetizer to KH3.

I was happy to have a side game that actually had new worlds and characters along with actually expanding the story of the series. The Dream Eater mechanic wasn't anything great, and the plot continues to be absolutely insane and contrived. Despite that, it is a fun action RPG and switching between Sora and Riku was a lot of fun.

I decided to stop playing this one. On the surface, the game is fine. You've got Sora. You've got Disney worlds. You've even got Riku. I decided to stop playing this one. On the surface, the game is fine. You've got Sora. You've got Disney worlds. You've even got Riku. But the story didn't capture me at all, and the Drop system was really annoying. You'd be in the middle of a world and suddenly got thrown into a different one because your time ran out, or worse, you'd be in the middle of a boss fight and get Dropped to the other character and have to start the boss fight over again later. In terms of story, I felt like the story was just happening around you, rather than you actually becoming part of the Disney stories. The combat was, again, fine, but uninspiring, and I actually found it weak when it came to boss fights. I couldn't beat Riku's Cite des Cloches boss, and I felt like it was less a reflection of my skill and more a limitation of the combat. I put in 5 hours and realized I wasn't having that much fun and I wouldn't be bothered if I stopped playing, so I sold it.

I just heard about the Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Collection, so I'm putting this one on the shelf for awhile to wait for the Final Mix of this game included there.

I'm not far along yet, but I do love Yen Sid finally taking a more central role in the narrative, as he's one of the more interesting characters in the saga. I'm having a tad bit of trouble with the camera during battle, but I'm sure I'll get used to it.

I have no idea what the hell is going on with this Joshua guy yet. I guess all these games are kind of like that until the end, but this one is reallly out of left field after we've sort of establiished the world over the first 8 games.

I had this game for a tiny bit the first time I had a 3DS but I never got to finish it and, it was, so good ;0;

Played quite a bit of Kingdom Hearts: DDD over the weekend and really getting into it. I love the way it summarizes previous games in the series. :)

Why does every RPG I've played lately have a pet mechanic? /sigh. Only just getting started in KH:DDD. Character switching is an interesting mechanic.

Started Kingdom Hearts: DDD last night. I kind of hate that I love this series so much. :)
