Perfectly okay HOG

Intro

Secret Order 3 is a Hidden Object Game. The world is presented in static screens that you move between, finding objects, solving puzzles and talking to NPCs.

The Good

  • Map travel.
  • Actionable zones indicated on map.
  • Silly story.
  • Very nice environments.
  • No truly awful puzzles.
  • Pretty good HOPs.
  • Overall better than Secret Order 2.

The Bad

  • Aside from the nice presentation it never really rises above mediocrity.
  • Lacks the fun "B-movie" feel of the previous game.

Conclusion

Secret Order 3 is a mediocre but decent HOG. Definitely not worth €10 though.

agurczuk's review of The Secret Order 3: Ancient Times

A hidden object puzzle adventure game that for the first time in The Secret Order series rises to a certain standard.

Visually it's much better than previous installments. Looks colorful and well detailed. The locations are varied and musky interesting. Same goes for hidden object puzzles.

The story goes off the rails as far as I'm concerned but at it least its coherent. The order has some trouble again and you get to travel to ancient times to fix it. And by ancient times they mean fairytale with gryphons, magic and stuff. But at least it flows well.

The mechanics are pretty standard. Hidden object puzzles are decent, other puzzles are good as well.

As far as HOPA games go this is a solid entry worth paying if you're into the genre.
