Enter an enchanting world of legends and magic, filled with gloomy forests, forbidden temples, and abandoned castles; a realm of dark secrets, where your destiny was written long before your birth... Within the shadow of an ancient forest, on the bottom of a foggy valley, stands the lonely village of Ravenbrook. The folk there are cheerful and diligent, yet warily superstitious. They surround the village with countless charms to keep the evil spirits at bay, for on the other side of the forest, there lies a seemingly bottomless pit, known as the Abyss. It is the place the villagers of Ravenbrook fear most... On this night, a young woman is returning home for her twin sister’s wedding. The sisters haven’t seen each other in years. Yet the invitation was strange, almost as if someone else wrote it, other than her twin. But still she comes, ignorant of the danger that awaits... Read less

A good, casual time. These games always last too long for me (they're not long, just the Hidden Object Game itch is easy to scratch for me), but it's perfectly fine and comfy in its "straight-to-vhs" kid's fantasy story kind of way.

Grim Legends: The Forsaken Bride is a point and click game, and a good one I might add. It is a game filled with many puzzles and assembly mini games to create items that let you move forward.

It has a decent story (no spoilers) and although this game is targeted at a younger audience, it still has a bit of a dark tint over it. Mainly in some parts of its animation style and images in the puzzles. The story is kind of cliché but for a kid’s game, it is good. The “collector’s edition” has an extra bonus level, expanding the story by some bit. The game gives you a Telltale vibe, although it is nothing like that.

The puzzles itself are really challenging, even I (a grown ass man) could not figure them out instantly and it took me some time. The overall design of the puzzles is well done and well animated and give you a feeling of satisfaction when you complete them.

The graphics, or should I say animation style in the game is good. The moving animations however are sometimes a little bit odd and awkward. But overall, no complaints there. The music playing in the background has something “creepy” but is calming at the same time. Little weird to explain.

A small problem I had with the game was that I was going for the “no hints” achievement and my mouse clicked on “hint” when I needed to click something in the bottom right corner. This caused the achievement invalid and thus I needed to start all over again. It is my own fault of course, but the button takes on 15% of your screen and cannot be disabled anywhere.

For me the main reason to play Grim Legends: The Forsaken Bride was because I got it in a bundle and never played it, it is relaxing, and it got some easy (or so I thought) achievements to complete. As a kid I would love to play this game (and the other ones in the Artiflex Mundi series).

Surely recommend it.

The puzzles are easier or maybe I'm getting better:) The story is atrocious! Long ago a rich noble fell in love with a village girl but his family didn't let him run away with her, so the girl thinking he just played with her, cursed his entire family by using a demon, accidentally promising away her unborn child. After the twin's birth, she left them in the forest near the road. Luckily a kind stranger took them in. Years later the demon wanted to marry the protagonist's sister. No explanation why the demon never tried to take the protagonist even though they are twins. After the game, the curse is broken and the little family lives happily in the witch's hut. The foster father is not needed, and the man definitely forgave his lover who cursed him He changed into a bear for 20 years! and his entire family and left their daughters in the forest.

It's free with google play pass.
