Since Far cry 1 in 2004, I haven't been disappointed by the Franchise. Apart from abusive language, I absolutely loved everything about FC4. They kept everything we loved in earlier versions and this time has the right play time. Great graphics, fun to play, optimal controls, alternate story "Shangri-la" is something unique and enjoyable. Finished Far Cry 4 main story. Great game overall.

Far Cry 3 in Tibet, essentially.

Some slight improvements but overall more of the same if you've played 3.

Got 50 hours in it, so I enjoyed it quite a lot.

The auto cross is a paradoxical weapon. Both a pleasure to use and a disappointment. Quickly and silently taking down an entire outpost (sometimes even from a stationary position) is a thrill, albeit a cheap one. About half way through the game and have stalled a bit. Broken Age is taking up most of my play time so I've stepped away from Far Cry 4. Mostly I find the game slightly disappointing. It is aesthetically much prettier than Far Cry 3, but I feel the game lacks some of the depth of critical reflection found in the previous instalment. It also lacks Vaas, who injected a great deal of satire and provided a chaotic vantage point from which to consider where it is we may be able to locate evil within our culture.

Mostly, I wish Far Cry 4 was actually told entirely from the view of Kalinag the Seeker from "The Legend of Shangri-La". It would be wonderful if Ubisoft produced a version of Far Cry that respectfully drew from stories of places conceptually like Shangri-La to construct a narrative that retells actual recorded myths and legends. I could spend days within such a world. "The Legend of Shangri-La" is definitely the richest and most interesting part of Far Cry 4 , and the one element that has me wanting to return.

I'm about 10 hours in, and I can honestly say, this is one of the most fun games I have ever played. Can't wait to write my review on it-- and from the looks of the game so far, it should be a long one! A lot to talk about!
