The first 5-6 hrs in "Falls End" was lit.

The map was excellent, with lots to do, festival events, and side quests to collect bull balls. But after that everything was ty[ical Ubisoft reuse. watching the NPCs instantly ruins the immersion. Our teammates have 1-2 good dialogues but that's it. 2nd and third map was a waste of time.

Unpopular opinion: The best Far Cry to date

Gameplay - More fun than previous installments, lots of activities and ways to traverse the land. Could have had more weapons but it's still quite a good range of them. It's not just about liberating outposts and going up towers. There are tons of sidequests, some good and some worse. Certainly more interesting sidequests than a game such as AC …

Gameplay - More fun than previous installments, lots of activities and ways to traverse the land. Could have had more weapons but it's still quite a good range of them. It's not just about liberating outposts and going up towers. There are tons of sidequests, some good and some worse. Certainly more interesting sidequests than a game such as AC Odyssey but not quite at Witcher 3 levels. The perk tree could have been way better though, not many good options there imo. Kind of tired of the "tank" enemies that are just bullet sponges, otherwise the enemy variety was good.

Graphics and environment - Really good. Imagine the northern part of GTA V but MUCH bigger. Also got some Fallout 4 vibes in some locations. Game looks really nice.

Music - The best yet, lots of classics timed perfectly in different places throughout the game.

Characters - There are MANY named characters in this game, and lots of companions. Both characters and companions are written well, even without speech options I felt like the companions are similar to the ones in The Outer Worlds, having some commentary on the world, your choices and other companions. Characters in the story were well written. With the exception of John and Jacob seed, which brings me to the story section

Story - You can kind of choose which part of the story to see first, but I went with John then Jacob then Faith. John and Jacob were both cliche characters, John was like a mini Joseph and Jacob the tough army guy. Literally everything relating to them was bad, from the moments you get knocked unconscious out of nowhere (several times mind you), listening to their monologues, to their boss fights. I was SO happy to be done with them when I got to Faith's part of the story. Here is where it kicks up a notch and you start to understand things and see how interesting the story is. The endings are certainly some of the most memorable of all the Far Cry games.

Technical - Characters get glitched a lot, especially around water and sometimes in doorways. I had one crash and some parts where things went really slow. Other than that, no problems. Game saves a lot so you don't need to worry about that.

Solid 8/10. Not the best game ever, but the best Far Cry.

It's Jonestown all over again

Pros:

  • Shooting is still good
  • No need to hunt
  • No towers (ok, there are a few, but that's it)
  • Ending: unfortunately it was spoiled to me, but it was still super grim and dark, and I totally liked it

Cons:

  • Main character being captured like 9 times over the course of the game. I understand that's their way to solve …

Cons:

  • Main character being captured like 9 times over the course of the game. I understand that's their way to solve the problem of having access to the entire map at once, but still. I thought sneaking and overhearing things was a bad plot, but this is even worse
  • Not enough guns. Far Cry 4 had much more variety, and much more interesting firearms. Here, enemies drop only 4 types of guns, 2 of which are M4 variations. And for some reason stashes also contain only these boring ones.

What a lot of people miss about the narrative - it's not about alt-right. "Project at Eden's Gate" is based on "Peoples Temple Agricultural Project", aka Johnstown, aka "Drinking the Kool Aid". It's apostolic socialism. Notice how they never use the US flag, but the "prepers" do?

Pretty fun.

Allright, another credit scrolled! I found the game to be fun but the setting was a little repetitive. Still, I enjoyed my time in Far Cry 5!
