I truly disliked every second I was playing this game. Did that stop me from finishing it? Absolutely not! I would rather die than recommend this game to anyone. Again, none of this stopped me from playing it. I could spend so much time listing my complaints, but here I will just highlight some of the worst stuff:

  1. You have to kill dogs. And you might be like, "you don't HAVE to kill the dogs" - WRONG! You do. You absolutely have to. And that's gross. (sidenote: you know that twitter account that's like "Can you pet the dogs in the game" well, the more important question should be "Can you kill the dogs in the game")
  2. The assassinating is terrible, doesn't work well, and overall sucks. This sucked for me because I love a stealth assassination. Really gets my blood flowing. Needless to say, the blood didn't flow here.
  3. Speaking of blood, lots of it in this game! So much blood! And don't get me wrong, I love a bloody game (Devil May Cry has a perfect amount of blood), but I don't love what they did with it here. It was inconsistent - comical, yet not comical enough. …

  4. Sidequests sucked—Blah city. Don't even get me started on the treasure hunts.

I will end this on a positive note. I appreciated my killer rooster and crocodile. This game helped me come to realize that those would be super helpful in real life. Also, I want to give a big shout-out to THE NAIL GUN! What a weapon. I really did some diabolical shit with that thing. Oh the memories. Kind of makes me want to get a nail gun. I understand the possibilities now.

Absolute Carnage - Most Engaging Far Cry Yet

Far Cry 6 has got to be one of the most fun far cry games I have played. Taking cues from AC Valhalla's well written smaller plots and side quests, Far Cry 6 really takes the entertainment up a notch with its well constructed sub-plots.

Don't bank too much on Giancarlo - the aesthetic falls flat. However, the gameplay is just explosive enough to make up for it and you're always on your toes in the world of Yara.

While you do have the option of killing the game halfway, don't. Go through each arc because the final sequences are SO WORTH IT. It's way too much badassery shoved into one game.

Oh boy, where to start.

Same formula since FC2 but they lost their ways after FC3. Ubisoft is emotionally crippled. It tries so hard to please everyone, be woke, shock the audience with dumb violence worthy of a 80's action movie forgotten in a dumpster, along with major players, but all that it does is use the same blanket it has slept under for over 10 years and it is beginning to stink.

Why create a world so big, with so much content? More than half is useless and you don't need it to finish the game. On top of that, none of the characters and missions are memorable or smart. The characters, the writing is done poorly. Every dialog is a cliche stolen from every dumb action movie and it isn't even funny.

I actually tried to like this game, find its beauty inside the whole mess they've created. 36 hours with almost 50% completion on each region, so, semi-griding. All this time just for a few short cinematics to progress with the story, just to watch an actor's performance. REALLY? All this time just for a few short cinematics to progress with the story, just to watch an actor's performance. REALLY? The best thing in this game is Giancarlo Esposito and i could have watched him on youtube.

The world of Yara is empty, it feels like i am talking with the AI from FC2 which was released in 2008 , and this title released in 2021. 13 years for a "manual" of how to become a guerilla. Now that, is either smart, or dumb.

The missions? Go somewhere, defend, shoot, or sneak, or take pictures, shoot some more, follow me, prepare the grill. This is the Ubisoft formula.
The game feels empty, you couldn't connect with any character even if they had a big plug on them saying connect with me.

There is nothing intelligent in any of the dialogs written in this game. ( Let's drink, have *** and skip school) hmm, i guess that when our communist regime fell in our country, a lot of resolutioners were thinking exactly like that. Does Ubisoft recruit their writers right from their parents basement? At least have the decency to be a bit accurate when you try to educate the public with a character that fights for something.

Ubisoft games can be a dream or a nightmare for those with OCD. At least they could have made an interesting world to spend your time collecting stuff and drive around and admire the world. Even the NPC warcries are silly and similar to each last FC title.

Last but not least, the idea around Far Cry and the themes around megalomaniacs with ideologies is very good. Don't shove this with 10 cinematics of progress and an empty world because the whole picture is starting to look like stick figures and not an action game where you blow up the map with a ton of arsenal.

Far Cry 6

Far Cry 6 is a great open-world adventure, set in the tropical islands of Yara, where you are once again tasked with liberating everything from the current dictator, Anton Castillo. The gameplay and the mechanics are the usual, with a few twists, like the different ammo types, Resolver weapons and a gear based upgrade system. The latter might be the biggest change, but after getting used to it, you can use it to your advantage with the 4 different presets. The animal companions are cute and funny, and the new gadgets, like the rocket backpack are fun to mess around with. I read a lot of bad reviews about this game, but I think it's criminally underrated, I really enjoyed being back to the jungle.

The worst parts of the game for me are the online elements. Microtransactions are unnecessary and locking content behind weekly gates is just prolonging the inevitable finished feeling. Single player games should finish after a while, and even without these methods, there is a ton of content in the game. The DLC-s were not for me either, although the Villains DLCs extended the lore of the previous games a bit, which is nice, especially with …

Single player games should finish after a while, and even without these methods, there is a ton of content in the game. The DLC-s were not for me either, although the Villains DLCs extended the lore of the previous games a bit, which is nice, especially with the returnal of Vaas from Far Cry 3, I just wish they were not in this roguelike formula.

I have mixed feeling about the villains of the game. The Castillo's were decent, but not perfect villains, but their liutenants lacked charisma or memorability. Some of my favourite guns were locked behind the weekly Insurgency missions, which is annoying, if you don't want to spend money on microtransactions.

So yeah, it's not a perfect game, might not make it into my Top 3 Far Cry games, but if you can ignore the greedy bullshit, the game behind it is still the same fun as it used to be. Capturing bases one after the other, exploring the wild, fighting vicious beasts and shooting bad guys Rambo style. What's not to love?

I Guess I Enjoyed It

It’s fine, it’s fun, it’s a Far Cry game. The story was pretty predictable and boring at times, but so is every Far Cry storyline. The side quests and quirky characters are better than the main storyline, but again, that’s the case in every Far Cry game. The mechanics and layout are a masterclass in open-world RPG building and save the game for me, but, you guessed it, Far Cry has always excelled at this. If you like the franchise and you know what you’re getting yourself into, it’s definitely worth a play-through, but otherwise, maybe wait for it to go on sale.

Plot twist: I loved Far Cry 6.

Yes. I know. I'm part of the problem. He he he. My hate for Far Cry 5 is well known, but this one is not afraid to actually engage with its political themes and present them with nuance.

Is also fun as fuck. I know a lot of people is tired of Ubisoft-style open-world games, but those still engage me like crazy. It also helps that Yara is beautiful and I can't stop exploring to use the photo mode.

You can read my full review in spanish here. It's not a perfect game at all. There are bugs, a lot of issues with the equipment system and long loading screens (on PS4), but nothing stopped me from having a blast.

I also loved how latin american everything looks, but didn't liked the villain this time. I know Far Cry is mostly known because its charismatic evil men, but Anton Castillo is just an stereotypical fascist dictator.

Only a game that is very enjoyable to play!
This review is for the PC (Microsoft Windows) version

I don't know if Far Cry 6 is the worst game in the series, but I suppose not and definitely it's not the best either, for me. Far Cry 6 it's enjoyable because of its setting, the tropical island of Yara, of its gameplay (especially when you use the homemade weapons made of scrap, called "resolver weapons" or "supremos") and of course, for its lore, its history.

On the other hand, the downside of this game is the lack of the depth of the storyline, because the narrative is very simple and linear, with not so many plot twists. The story is just mediocre, but not amazing, as you would expect from those triple AAA RPG games. Moreover, the AI system and the behaviour of the NPC's, are very basic, the AI system it's a disaster and for me this is one important key factor for a game that has been released in 2021.

In conclusion I can only say that Far Cry 6 is a decent game, it's very long, the storyline it's decent, the gameplay and the setting are amazing and most of the times it really looks a lot like Far Cry 5 (it has the same …

I wasn't hearing good things about this game, but I played it anyways because I'm a fan of Giancarlo Esposito. This game is great. I had such a good time with this. I wasn't a fan of Far Cry 5, but that wasn't because I didn't like Ubisoft open world games or were sick of them. It was because I wasn't interested in anything the filled that world with. The world, the story, the characters were all boring to me. Far Cry 6 is way better in those areas making it the best Far Cry game I've played so far, and the music in the game is so good.

It feels like Ubisoft has gradually forgotten what made Far Cry stand out. Far Cry 3 had a strong sense of immersion—cutscenes were experienced in first-person, characters locked eyes with you, and the world felt grounded despite the chaos. By the time we get to Far Cry 6, that presence is gone. Missions are delivered against sterile backdrops, and the game’s identity feels fractured.

Far-Cry-6-Trial-Screenshot-2025-03-02-22-40-50-74

I barely touched New Dawn, mostly because I dislike games where headshots don’t mean anything. But Far Cry 6 borrows heavily from that entry’s makeshift weapon aesthetic—thankfully, weapon design is one of the few areas the series hasn’t completely derailed. One bright spot is how unique weapons found in caches are actually useful. Unlike in Far Cry 3, where you'd climb a lighthouse and find nothing of value, here you might walk away with something memorable.

Far-Cry-6-2025-04-13-19-10-56-07-DVR-mp4-000450-866

Summonable cars? Just tap your phone. From the outset, you're handed absurdly powerful gear: a harpoon-firing crossbow, a sniper rifle bought with in-game currency, and a backpack that acts as a superweapon, offering mortars, poison, or EMP blasts. Far Cry leans heavily into superhero territory here, to the point that it might’ve been more interesting if the game framed everything as the imagination of a dictator’s son obsessed with comics. They even cleverly keep the protagonist's name as “Dani,” regardless of gender.

Far-Cry-6-2025-05-04-23-03-06-15-DVR-mp4-000333-721

Still, Far Cry 6 can't decide what it wants to be. It hands you a wingsuit and tank-blasting rockets, then pretends it’s telling a grounded story about family and sacrifice. The tonal whiplash is real. Enemies in high-level zones sponge headshots like nothing, while your absurd backpack missiles can wipe out choppers and armored vehicles. Far-Cry-6-Screenshot-2025-05-01-22-21-17-98

To its credit, the game still takes risks with character deaths. Castillo—the villain—actually gets moments that complicate his cartoon-tyrant image. At one point, he claims 80% of his army is made up of farmer families. It’s not much, but it adds a shade of grey. Another character, Alejandro, calls out his sister for treating guerrilla warfare like a game. These moments are fleeting but welcome. Far-Cry-6-2025-05-01-22-25-20-30-DVR-mp4-000007-499

Then there are baffling design choices. You’re given a helicopter early on, but can’t use it freely due to anti-air defenses. Rather than gating it properly, they just throw in hours of turret destruction. It feels lazy. The hand-ballista is another oddity—granted at the start, it's basically a silent railgun that can one-shot minibosses. With ammo limits as the only drawback, there’s little incentive to try other weapons.

Far-Cry-6-Screenshot-2025-04-09-23-45-58-54

Progression is another letdown. Halfway through the story, I’d already unlocked most of the arsenal and hit level 8 out of 10. There’s little to chase. It doesn’t help that bosses are either underwhelming or nonexistent.

Narrative-wise, the game is a mixed bag. The second region leans hard into LGBT representation, but does so with all the subtlety of a hammer. Characters repeatedly announce their identities instead of letting the story show us who they are. One arc, about an old guerrilla band from 1967, is actually the best of the three. It’s comical and outlandish, but that fits the game’s tone far better than the band of self-important rappers in the second region. Far-Cry-6-2025-04-13-20-32-10-10-DVR-mp4-000049-999

Certain missions shine. Storming a fort was a highlight. And the hallucination sequence, where Dani confronts his motivations during a car ride, is one of the game’s deepest moments. It calls out the player’s lust for chaos over ideology—rare introspection in an otherwise loud game. Far-Cry-6-Screenshot-2025-05-01-22-09-20-03

But even great moments are often undercut. After a strong scene where a revolutionary teenager takes vengeance on a general, she immediately poses for selfies with the body. Another character, Paolo, is described as crucial to the revolution, but the game never shows why. Meanwhile, standout characters like Jonrón and El Tigre are killed off, making the rest of the cast feel hollow by comparison. Far-Cry-6-2025-04-24-23-22-47-17-DVR-mp4-000454-498

The finale is perhaps the most disappointing in the series. After all the surrealism and symbolism teased throughout the game—like the bloodied baseball bat and gun on the title screen—it all ends predictably. No twist. No reveal that Dani is Diego, or that Clara is a tyrant-in-waiting. No deeper meaning behind the miracle drug Viviro or Diego’s role in its creation. Just a flat sequence: Clara dies, Castillo kills himself and his son, and it’s over.

For a series known for messing with your head, Far Cry 6 goes out not with a bang, but a shrug.

Standard ubisoft formula, but not done well

Far Cry 6 is a de facto Ubisoft formula game, where the map is divided in a few zones and you basically capture different points, do a bit of collecting here and there etc, untill you captured a full region, then you move on to the next one etc.

It's the same as in any other Ubisoft game, and while i love some of them (Valhalla, Odyssey, older farcry games), this one just does not hit home.

Both of the additions just don't work; The pets that follow you around are nothing but a nuisance and don't add anything otherwise. The 'super' weapons are way over the top, and in the end you barely use them cause they don't really add anything over the normal weapons. The atmosphere of the game is also very miss and never hit in my opinion, with most characters you meet being way over the top and annoying. Other than that, the game feels really lackluster on the story department, and while this is often the case with Ubisoft, usually there is still at least some decent story, but in FC6 that is completely absent (the whole thing boils down to, there is a bad …

I really enjoyed 3 at the time and this was fine. I got it for $10 from Best Buy which is the price point I needed to feel good at the end of this.

I mostly got this to play story mode co-op with a friend. The Ubi-Open-World grind still feels worse each time I have to do it. But, the core gameplay still feels right and the grind is inoffensive.

I feel like I should have more to say than shrug for the 100 hours I put in but...

I’ve said before I really have to be in the mood for a UbiSoft game. I started Far Cry 6 half a year ago, but couldn’t be bothered with the open world chore list at the time. I finally got back into it last month and finished it off.

The gameplay has been tweaked some since Far Cry 5, but the same bedrock is still there. Shooting feels good. At the risk of sounding weird, headshots have nice cracky & squishy audio feedback. You’ve a decent selection of classic, 60s era guns to pick from that offer different advantages. There’s an upgrade system that involves crafting, which is wholly unoriginal, but does give you and your guns a sense of progression as you outfit them with more gear and buffs. UbiSoft took a cue from their Ghost Recon series and tried to make Far Cry 6 more “tactical”. You now have different types of ammo to select from that kill certain enemies better. Most encounters involve a few armored opponents which require that ammo to land headshots, and it shoots unarmored opponents just as effectively. The game doesn’t differentiate how many rounds of each ammo type you have. You just have 60 rifle rounds, whether their poison or normal or fire rounds is up to you. Silencers also behave more realistically. They have an overheat mechanic where if you shoot too often too quickly you will lose your stealthy advantage. It boils down to a waiting mechanic that is annoying when sniping from a hill, but can be a bit tense when stalking through a base with your pistol.
enter image description here

Vehicles of all types make a return here. 1st person driving takes some getting used to. They’ve also brought back the mini-map. I’d prefer if they left it off like Far Cry 5. The in-game HUD with objective markers and routes worked great and kept you from just watching the little corner map the whole game. They did forgo the Just Cause style of progression for a more traditional quest givers story gameplay. It did reduce the number of times your character got randomly knocked out. Each quest is given to you in a little Civ 6 style cutscene where the quest giver talks in front of a colorful background. It was an odd choice and felt a bit MMO-y. Companions also make a return, but they are all animals, which is a shame. The banter between your cohorts was one of the best parts of Far Cry 5 for me. They did give the animals personalities, like a punk rooster or a magic jaguar, but it wasn’t the same. Each one has their special role they play, being an assaulter, sneaker, or supporter. As a stealth player, I used the jaguar most the game because she was a bit OP. Also, Hurk doesn’t even show up in this game. Come on, he’s the highlight of my Far Cry experience. enter image description here

This entry takes place in Yara, a tropical Caribbean island that’s a stand in for Cuba. The island has lots to explore from colonial Spanish forts to modern production farms. It nails the feeling of Cuba, a nation stuck in time. Most the guns and cars are from the 50s and 60s, the towns look like they’ve been there for a hundred years. There’s a weird mishmash of old and new, as even though everyone drives Bel Airs, the military has modern “evil empire” style uniforms along with some advanced tech. There’s smartphones and Wi-Fi next to the chicken fighting ring. While I do like the island, Far Cry 5 was made for me and it’s location was much more exotic. Sure, in the real world, the tropical island is more exotic, but there’s plenty of games that throw you on a beach somewhere. Games set in small town America are fewer and far between. Outside the cities of Yara, it felt like just another tropical island. I do appreciate they did a better job of making actual towns in this game compared to the dinky settlement that was Fall’s End in FC5. enter image description here

For the story, you are set up with three regions to occupy and help unite the band of rebels that live their with your group, Libertad. One region has you helping the local farmers and deals with a father who’s son done gone bad & his daughter is brash and committed, but butts heads with his leadership style. Dad dies and now the daughter is thrust into leadership. Your character, Dani, is also ostracized for being a city slicker. The son mends his ways then just disappears out of the story. It was a solid, typical rebellion story. The jungle region sees you teaming up with a group of retired revolutionaries from a rebellion that toppled President Castillo’s father’s government and a group of college aged revolters. It’s a classic old meets young, butting heads, then reconciling their differences to work together. I enjoyed the characters in this arc the most. They were fun. The final region sees you helping a rap group fight the system. This arc went on way too long. It was mission after mission of how the two don’t agree with each other, and they break up, then you have to get them back, then one gets captured. I never cared for the musician character in rebel stories, and this arc was all about them. Finally, there’s a few short missions where you storm the president’s tower and win the day. Of course the leader of your rebellion gets conveniently killed off prior to that so you get to be the big important person for the climax. There’s a few fun characters along the way, except Hurk. Juan Cortez is your gadget man and the classic grumpy old beach bum with a penchant for destruction. Jonron is a college baseball star that looks like she walked outta Sunset Overdrive, and I appreciate that Dani is a voiced protagonist. It makes the story much better and she has some fun lines. Early on Castillo’s bodyguard is set up as this unique character, a cowboy with a fake leg, but he disappears for most the game only showing up at the end when he dies, by another character’s hands. For a “zany” game like Far Cry, he seemed criminally underused. enter image description here

Far Cry 5 was “criticized” for not being political, and UbiSoft set to make FC6 a political game. I’ll give UbiSoft credit, they seem to be one of the few developers who listen to their community and adapt. Usually it’s just one particular issue they pinpoint in on, and not one that would effect their profits to be had like messing with microtransactions or store packs, but that’s still more than some developers. When I heard Far Cry 6 was going to be “political” I figured it wouldn’t extend much beyond “Dictators are bad, m’kay.” because anything too polarizing could put profit margins at risk. To my surprise, they did go a little deeper than that. And to my even greater surprise it never felt preachy, or like a thinly veiled “Let’s shoot Trump” power fantasy. The political takes in FC6 are by no means hot, but they do show a “that’s just how the world works” perspective. Yara is portrayed as a country that’s in a constant state of revolution it seems. None of the rebel bands you help seem to vocalize a plan beyond kill the President. And it’s a video game, I get that sitting through discussions on how they’ll handle infrastructure or the education system doesn’t make for riveting gameplay, but the fact the game does sort deconstruct the rebel archetype a bit makes their lack of planning noticeable. I wholly expect Yara to be in another civil war sooner than later. Your rebel leader, Clara, even mentions after they kill Castillo, the next leader won’t last a month before they’re assassinated. One issue that’s never brought up, you kill a lot of soldiers in this game and they mention that there’s seemingly mandatory military service. Again, it’s a video game, you need bad guys to shoot, but in this game more than others I felt like I was doing wrong killing them. Plenty of them could’ve been doing their two years then getting out. enter image description here

The game starts off telling you how Castillo’s tenure has seen the creation of a drug that cures cancer, which is a decidedly good guy kinda thing. Unfortunately to create it you have to spray poison onto your crops which isn’t good for the locals, but Castillo does make a point in one scene that “Hey, we’re saving lives. What do they care how it’s created? Outta sight, outta mind.” Not a hot take, but an honest one. Though the game did throw some ambiguity to whether it really was a cancer cure or if that was just a PR smokeshow. There’s also some screwiness to how Castillo got elected. His father ruled back in the 60s as a dictator until he got executed by the revolutionaries. Then Yara elected the revolution’s leader as their president. Apparently that guy did such a shit job they reelected a Castillo to lord over them. Maybe that’s supposed to be some deep commentary about how people are dumb or that time dulls the memory of a nation, but ehh, it seems a bit contrived. Then the game mentions how there’s people that still support Castillo; your True Yarans vs your Fake Yarans. I felt this is the closest the game got to a “Castillo=Trump” statement, but that could also be applied to any charismatic leader. The fact the island is under martial law & covered in military checkpoints and slave camps feels like it would be pretty hard to support his regime. I know America isn’t squeaky clean, but we at least do our shady shit in other places, “outta sight, outta mind”. I don’t know, part of me thinks this game’s just got sloppy writing, part of me thinks truth may be stranger than fiction.
enter image description here

One political statement this game made that took me back involved Castillo admitting he promoted a woman to be Admiral of his Navy because of her gender, not her qualifications. I’m not an expert on gender issues, I’ll just say it was my understanding that in media that type of affirmative action was usually considered a good thing and not the type of trait I’d expect from a bad guy. Castillo is an interesting character. It’s a Far Cry game, they are built around villains. He has your typical dictator traits, but Giancarlo Esposito plays him so well. He does go on a lot about lions and lambs like some alpha male bullshit that gets a bit cliché. Towards the end his character develops this notion about “truth and lies” that didn’t really seem built up to. It was a neat facet of his personality though, and wished they’d implemented sooner in the game. enter image description here

All in all, I enjoyed this game once I got into it. While toned down, there’s still some wacky Far Cry in there. I had a big dumb smile the whole time I was helping Danny Trejo. I hope he’s a nice guy in real life. The story handled being political well enough to not hamper the gameplay and while familiar, Yara was a fun place to explore. I think no. 5 still stands as my favorite of the series, but this game is no slouch.

The AI is atrociously bad in this. Game feels dull. Don’t know how they managed to make this bad when it’s the sixth in the main series.

After what happened with XDefiant, I am sunsetting playthroughs on some Ubisoft titles I feel contributed to the death of that game. This game series as much as I enjoyed 3 and want to play the others, didn't help with gamer burnout.

Far Cry 6 is Worth Playing at least once if you've played any of the past games. The story and the setting are actually really good, and I liked how the story turned out. the reason I gave it a 3 out of 5 is because Far Cry games are a reskin of the previous game with minor changes to the story. The way they capture the Hispanic/Latina culture was interesting in a good way. One of the things that annoyed me is the music selection, the songs were nice, but I wish they would have added more or given you the ability to add songs via some app process similar to GTA online. Easy work around is to turn off the music and play your own though. After you play the game and beat it, they give you a little extended play by expounding on the military of the dictator still being relevant, this was a nice add on for those who want to stick around for a little while. Honestly, I would love to see Far Cry 7 just to see what story they make, at this point that what I look forward to is just the new …

After 3 or so hours with Far Cry 6 I'm finally off the 'tutorial' island and exploring the main map. I've had fun with almost every Far Cry game I've played since FC2, the social political themes are really interesting, the characters are usually great, and the environments are gorgeous. I'm loving the Cuban inspired culture that's shining through the game too. The voice acting work is fantastic. I should probably switch to Spanish if there's an option in the audio settings!

enter image description here

FC6 is no different to its predecessors in many respects. This time around we make a return to the jungle-like environments last seen in FC3 and it's as beautiful as ever. Fire spread is still here, pulling bullets out of your arms is still a thing, and brutal melee takedowns have stuck around too. There's leaders to take down, vehicles to drive, and inevitably some involvement with drugs.

enter image description here

I always enjoy the discussion that Far Cry brings up via its narrative. This time around dictatorships, oppression, manipulation, and importantly the power of people working together as a collective.

Some minor things that have annoyed me so far is how enemies are a bit bullet spongey. The addition of ammo types and enemy weaknesses also complicates matters a bit and personally I'm not a fan of it. There's also the addition of supremos which are Powerful weapons with abilities that I'm yet to even bother using. Another small thing is how harvesting animals isn't an animation anymore, it's done automatically which could be a positive or a negative depend on your preference. Seems like I can no longer throw meat either to attract predators which I'm a bit sad about. Used to amuse myself by throwing meat at my co-op friend and watch as a bear ran up behind them... But yes animals are here in all their glory, always impressed by FC wide variety of fauna

enter image description here

Speaking of co-op I haven't tried it out yet but I suspect this is where the game will shine! Viva libertad!

So, Amazon Luna just launched in Canada and it turns out you can import your Ubisoft Connect library to Luna and play your games through that! Tried out Far Cry 6 for a bit via their Mac app & it's about as good as Google Stadia was. A pretty good option for those who miss Stadia if it's available in your region & you can get behind the channel model (or if you just have Amazon Prime & a shit ton of games on Ubisoft Connect)! Not something I'd use all the time, but definitely nice to have if I want to play some Far Cry, Ghost Recon or Assassin's Creed during my commute!

Note that if you bought an Ubisoft game on Steam, it won't show up here (ex: I have Rainbow Six Siege & The Division on Steam and those were no shows when I linked my Ubisoft account to Luna). Ubisoft games purchased on the Epic Games Store seem to work fine though (ex: I have Far Cry 6 & the recent Ghost Recon games on EGS and those showed up on Luna just fine).

Stealth gameplay without quick saving is fundamentally unsound. Punishing careful melee takedowns by forcing you to redo the entire encounter, even the scouting, after failing once is not fun or engaging. I know the stealth approach is ultimately optional, but it's my preferred playstyle in theory. I just can't stand being asked to replay content. It's a video game pet peeve. Hair trigger failure states are the reason I can't get into Metal Gear Solid. I think the more "intelligent" AI makes the core gameplay loop more annoying than it has been in previous games. The only thing saving this from being the worst modern Far Cry is the fact that Primal exists.

Why the hell would I want to play as Joseph Seed in DLC for Far Cry 6? Vaas makes a tiny bit of sense, but only barely. Ubisoft is really n this weird kick where their DLC doesn't expand the base game, it's just a way to sell smaller self contained games. Which conceptually appeals to me because I hate bloated games, and I like weird experiments. But Ubi is really saving me from a lot of what feels like unappealing content. None of the DLC for Immortals: Fenyx Rising seemed too interesting, nor does the DLC for Far Cry 5 (Vietnam, Mars and Zombies?) and playing as three of the antagonists from previous games simply feels ill-fitted to the story and experience of Far Cry 6. Makes my life easier because there are no on-disc versions of the DLC, so don't feel like I'm really missing out.

What is with Ubisoft’s desire to turn every game they make into a Game as a Service? After completing the game I’m faced with a new weekly activity, recapturing checkpoints and military outposts from insurgents. I’m told that every week insurgents capture a region and I then have to liberated everything all over again. And this nets me a currency I can spend on a limited slate of items, that are naturally on timed rotation. God damn contemporary AAA gaming sucks. The majority of the time I enjoy completing a game and moving on. I’m not here for an endless cycle of repetition.

Not that I’m surprised by all the bugs, but the latest is a Ui bug that pops up every once in a while that results in the mouse pointer completely disappearing making it impossible to select items in the menu or even accept missions. Like many other bugs, closing and restarting the game is required.

God damn it, I started the Stranger Things DLC by accident and now I’m stuck completing it. I assumed it was paid DLC so I didn’t think I had to actively avoid it.
