I enjoyed Myst from mostly a historic perspective. I mostly got in my own way in regards to the puzzles, which were almost always way easier than I expected. But I would be picking apart the number of bottles on a shelf when in reality the answer was simply a button sitting just under the shelf.

The whole reason to play this was to prepare for Riven, which has been a white whale for me. I understand it's much longer and more difficult, but I think Myst helped me get in the heads of the developers, which is what I needed.

So far my biggest issue has been overthinking puzzles. "Maybe the 3 green bottles in a row are a clue!" No, they're not.
In fact, one of the ages threw me for a real loop (

An incredibly challenging adventure game, but the puzzles were always interesting and felt rewarding to solve (except the maze. Stupid maze). I can't wait to play the other games in the series, and it was fun getting all the alternate endings as well. I was going to complain about there being no credits, but then realized you get credits whenever you quit the game. I played the original 1993 version and had a great time. Maybe I'll try the remake later on.

A very, very long time ago I "played" this with a friend. By "played" I mean he told me where to go and what to do and I just poked at puzzles and he told me the answers when it got too hard (so basically everything for high school me).

I played (actually played this time) Myst III in high school, too, and got very far into it. Then I accidentally formatted the wrong hard drive and lost everything. Always wanted to replay, but I'm thinking maybe I'll start from the beginning here.

This game is incredibly immersive, which is wild because it drops you in without any idea what's going on. Oddly enough, it makes me want to learn more. Why do pages of books give me TV static videos of 90s acting?

If not for the fact that I own many of these, this is a fantastic bundle and I would potentially pick it up:

One thing to note, I feel like Humble Bundle prices have generally gone up about $10. They used to regularly be in the teens, especially for collections of older games, but lately they seem to be in the $20-$30 range. Given Ziff Davis reduced the split that can go to charity, it feels less like that price increase was for the charities and more that it’s going to line corporate pockets.

I am really enjoying playing Myst with my wife and kids. I got pretty far into the game back when it came out, but hit some walls. I am having a much easier time as an adult!

It has kept the attention of my wife and small kids, not an easy feat! They really like trying to solve the puzzles. We are about half way through now. I can't wait to finally beat this game after so many years.
