The first game in the Spyro series has been completely remade from the ground up. It stars the title character, a young purple dragon named Spyro, and his dragonfly friend, Sparx, who must journey across the Dragon Kingdom to defeat Gnasty Gnorc, who has overtaken the 5 dragon Homeworlds by trapping the other dragons in crystal and turning their hoard of gems into an army of minions.

Never played these before but it’s a lot of fun. Insomniac really know how to make games that are just inherently fun to play regardless of what the objective may be.

One of my favorite things in their Spider-Man games was simply zipping around the open world getting all the collectibles. While Spyro’s movement is not quite as much of a blast as Peter and Miles’s swinging, this kind of game fills the same function as that.

I think I’m enjoying this the most out of all the platformers from that era that I’ve played. Kind of inspires me to try a few more of the ones I missed at some point.

The effort put into these remasters is really commendable—I’d love for even more games from this era to get such a great treatment.
