Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage! is the second game in the Spyro the Dragon series. In this game, Spyro is placed in the land of Avalar rather than the Dragon Worlds. Gameplay flows like the original game Spyro the Dragon, with few variations in control and Spyro's main abilities intact. The only notable difference is the removal of Spyro's side-rolling ability, previously activated by L1 and R1.

My body can't comprehend Spyro

Until recently, I only played two Spyro games, and both are the ones on the original PlayStation. The furthest I got with a Spyro game was with Spyro year of the dragon, which to me was a very pleasant game to look at and to play. almost all of them are, in fact.

But I can't understand why my body doesn't like this trilogy specifically. I played open world Mario 64, the Spongebob games, Crash Twinsanity, and a list of other open world Platformer, but this trilogy just doesn't get to me for some reason.

I get a lot of motion sickness playing this trilogy ever since childhood, and it's still going to this day.

I will put this review out there in the simplest form possible: this is not a bad trilogy, but something is clearly wrong with it. maybe the camera, the platforming design, or the Viewpoint of the player. If you're a person that gets motion sickness easily, avoid this trilogy at least on the PlayStation 1.

Decent game; this is the only one of the original trilogy that I didn’t play as a kid. It’s pretty fun and these remasters have a lot of love put into them, but I have such a strong association between Spyro and the PS1 that the fancy remaster graphics never quite felt right.

One interesting thing though is that with the remaster graphics, you can see a lot more similarity in level design with Ratchet and Clank.

My Favorite Spyro

Each entry in the original Spyro trilogy is excellent but I think Ripto's Rage is a cut above the rest. This entry adds swimming which opens up new level designs and a new game+ feature with eternal flame power-up which makes it fun to play a second time. I've beaten this game at least 6 times in my life and …

Finished again. One of my favourite games in history. Spyro and Jak are my favourite platform series. As good as the first one (though I like Spyro 1's worlds and soundtrack more). Next goal: replay Spyro 3.

Spyro a Avalar

Tante sfide, alcune particolarmente ostiche. Voto: 8.8/10

My recent experience with this game was the remastered edition, however, I have played through the original as well a while back. Although I didn't love it as much as the first game, I felt like it had a lot of heart and was still a great experience.

Each level has a short cut scene intro showing drama between the good and bad guys, usually in a looney toon-esc style. I found these to be super funny and i would look forward to them on entering each stage.

Unfortunately it seems like there are far fewer stages in this game and almost none of them provided any kind of challenge. Some stages I cleared in literally 10 mins or so. By no means am I great at platformers, in fact I think I'm crap, so for good players this has to be a major issue.

In conclusion, I did have fun with the game, it has style and great characters. I tend to find collect-athon style games to be fun, however I have to knock it a star for the difficulty curve and length.

If you enjoyed the first Spyro, then you probably won't be disappointed here.

Better than the first and not quite as good as the next one, this game was still great and ate up a lot of my time as a kid.
