CTR combines tight controls, creative track design, and a colorful cast of characters with power-ups and drift mechanics that reward skillful play, similar to previous kart titles of other franchises. Often compared to Mario Kart, CTR distinguishes itself with a robust Adventure Mode, where players can race through various tracks, collect relics, and face bosses in a light narrative, which was a selling point for me that was never really into kart titles before I found this one.

The power slide-boost mechanic adds depth and challenge, making races feel fast and satisfying, visually charming and mechanically sound, Crash Team Racing became a fan favorite and is still regarded as one of the best kart racers of its era. I highly recommend picking up the remake, unfortunately for me I don't have the platform it was released on, so I simply play the original, which is still a blast even for today's standards. This is definitely a must-play if you like the Crash Bandicoot franchise.

The multiplayer aspect is where it truly shines, offering intense split-screen races that reward mastery rather than randomness. Unlike some kart racers that lean heavily on chaotic item balance, it emphasizes precision drifting, track knowledge, and timing, which can make races feel more competitive and skill-driven. This also means the game can be punishing for newcomers, but the steep learning curve ultimately adds to its long-term appeal and replay value.

As for its presentation, the game excels with expressive character animations, memorable track themes, and an OST that perfectly matches the high-energy racing. The personality of the Crash universe is easily spotted into every aspect, from the exaggerated villains to the playful hub world in Adventure Mode. Even for today's standards, this title stands as a testament to how well implemented mechanics and strong identity can give a game lasting relevance, promoting this game to a classic of the original PlayStation 1 era.

People who think Mario Kart is the best kart racer of all time obviously have never played Crash Team Racing and it shows. Easily a game you could sink a thousand hours into and never be bored, endlessly addictive and just pure fun and entertainment, both solo or with friends & family.

This is so hard I get so frustrated. I am not great at racing games and this was not for me.

CTR

Voto: 8.5/10

Normally, I would just trash this for being a Mario Kart clone, but it's so fun that it doesn't matter. It takes the formula of Mario Kart and puts a Crash Bandicoot spin on it with fun levels, power-ups, and extra modes.

One of my favorite racing games of all time. I've played this game to the moon and back and keep coming back for more. Crash Bandicoot's first foray into the cart-racing genre is a must-play. It is fun for both casual players and heavy gamers alike. The courses are well varied and extremely fun, and the racing controls well. One of my favorite parts about racing is the up-gradable power-ups. During the course of the race, you can collect Wumpa fruit. If you collect 10 pieces, your power-ups will receive a major power boost. It can really make the difference in almost any race. There are a plethora of tracks to race on and a few different game modes (standard race, time attack and battle). Up to 4 people can play at the same time, making for even more fun shenanigans. If you are curious about the game, it is more than worth a shot.
