The gameplay is largely similar to that of the original, as players make their way through a limited environment whilst breaking crates that contains bonuses. The goal of the game is to gather 25 crystals for Crash's nemesis, Doctor Neo Cortex. The crystals are scattered between 25 different levels accessible via Warp Rooms, which are hub areas of the game. A level is cleared by collecting its respective crystal and reaching the end of its path, which returns Crash to the Warp Room. Read less

Played the NST version. This is a big step-up from the first game. This is actually the game I think of when I think of the Crash series because it's the only one I played as a kid. The improved movement makes a world of difference. Sliding, crawling, bodyslamming are all great additions that add depth to the game without over complicating it. I will say that some of the optional things were tricky to get like the gems and hidden routes. In my opinion, this is where the series peaks, but still looking forward to playing the third game in the trilogy.

So let me get this, this game is 1/3 the size of the original, has a better Non-Slippery controls, better level design, better Frame-rate, More controls, More Variety and the difficulty is toned down to Enjoyable level!

it's like Naughty Dog knew what they want to do with this game.

My favorite Crash Bandicoot game and the first one I played back when I got a Playstation. The only major flaws are the jetpack levels. Going for 100% can be frustrating, but I feel like it's just the right amount of challenge.
