Decided to give the game another shot, new transmog/content update just released. Did one online hunt, didn't click.
I think World/Iceborne on my gaming PC have spoiled me. Ultrawide, 60+fps, ultra gfx, it just doesn't compare with Rise being stretched out on my large TV.

In terms of gameplay, I felt the same urge to drop the game like I did a few weeks ago. There's no incentive for me to grind, I know how this goes, this rabbit hole of min maxing and farming armor sets. I might do it on PC but not on the Switch.
Gonna try and trade the game. I wanna play something casual again.

Rhopessa armor (with hidden helmet and Nargacuga belt). Not just because it's very pretty, but because Critical Element and Evade Extender are amazing.

Played this for 50 hours during the first week it launched.
Monster Hunter games are quite special to me. They're crafted with so much care and creativity, a joy to experience and behold. Having said that, they're also repetitive grind-fests. Addictive grind-fests.
I got burnt out on Rise rather quickly. Decided to drop the game for now.

Read morea sparkling gem of a game from what i've seen so far, but unfortunately i find myself having to put it on hold indefinitely. i've been playing monster hunter games for the better part of three years with no issue, but for some reason (most likely the sheer state of the world? the emotional exhaustion that comes with it? don't ask me, i'm really not sure) my empathy is hitting a little harder than usual and making it difficult and even unfun to actually go through the process of hunting the monsters lol. everything from the drooling, panting, going to their nest to sleep, limping, stumbling and flailing on the ground... yeah, it's not doing it for me anymore. mind you, i don't judge anyone in any way for playing these games, especially since the hunting is a matter of survival for the humans of the mh universe and these monsters are an actual ecological threat most of the time etc. etc. so there's even an ingame justification for the killing, which satisfied me enough to have fun until now too. this is entirely an arbitrary decision made by my unconscious mind. i just wish i'd known it would happen before i spent 50 bucks on this instead of pokesnap 😂

I'm maining Long Sword this time, but for the first time in the series I tried Hammer and it was incredibly fun!
It still took me ages to hunt a Barroth with it. I really need practice, but I really liked it. I wanna be a Hammer bro!
