Still pretty good, but not as good as Arkham City. And most of that is the addition of the Batmobile, the chase sections were the only times I wasnt having fun. The layout of the map is spread out enough where traversal without the car takes a lot time but not spread out enough where pursuit sections are chaotic and annoying. I hardly ever used the after burner because theres no long enough straight sections where you wont have to immediately slam on the brakes anyway, and whenever you hit something the air becomes filled with particles and the framerate drops like a stone. Even with the longer distances I still preferred just grapple-gliding because that was more unique, games with cars are a dime a dozen.

I also already thought combat in Arkham City was basically perfect, so there really wasnt anything else to add to it but they felt obligated to anyway, so the new special combos with the gadgets I frequently forgot about it.

It's dramatic to see the direction the subsequent games have taken—I didn't even want to look into them deeply, just from what I saw in reviews and fan comments. It's surprising that I only played this game in 2025, and yet its mechanics and graphics, even in the PC version (which had received some criticism for technical issues), still hold up better than many recent AAA or even AAAA games.

Getting straight to the point, the combat mechanics are excellent, and the multiple ways to defeat enemies allow for a certain level of creative freedom (though nothing too exaggerated). Of course, the enemy AI isn't particularly advanced (for example, you can simply hide under a floor grate and perform silent takedowns patiently, as enemies will always come running when one of them falls, meeting the same fate; a lapse in intelligence only occurs when they start using incendiary grenades or heavily damaging the grates, making stealth against them more difficult or preventing Batman from exiting through the damaged section), but it still allows for some great duels.

The storytelling is very good, and the side missions are interesting. (I must admit, I didn’t complete everything to unlock the Knightfall protocol—I just watched it on YouTube. But that’s probably an age thing; I no longer have the patience to fully complete every game.) I’ve always enjoyed this series for its storytelling, as if I were watching a movie rather than chasing after hidden trophies (especially since I played on Epic, where there aren’t even achievements or anything to motivate me to "waste" time on that).

Finally, what I liked most was the sobriety in maintaining Batman’s ideals (even though they are constantly challenged and his sanity is put to the test). Batman appears as the bastion of sanity amidst psychopaths and murderers. In fact, an interesting observation is how contemporary works of humanity refer to evil (and sin) as madness or illness. Batman’s enemies are, at first, "worthy of compassion" due to their insanity, but they are not mere lunatics—they are wicked. Batman preserves his sanity in the same way that a crusader (in an ideal world, of course, just to be clear) would maintain his holiness even while wielding a sword against the infidel Moors. What I mean is that our Dark Knight still carries traces of why we look up to heroes: because they possess virtues that we long for.

The world feels lively and amazing. As a player, I really felt like I became the BATMAN, infact I am among the people who believe that they made a better batman in knight than in the previous iteration. The understand the complaint people have with the batmobile - and I agree, for the most part. The imposition to use batmobile in certain types of missions and boss fights does feel like a drag. Where I do differ is in the fact that for the open world travel and in general experience of handling the 'tank', I really enjoyed it.

Give it a try, you will remember it!

I couldn’t understand why I have a feeling of dejavu from playing Arkham Knight. Did I already play it once? Then I remembered there was the Arkham Origins that I actually played, which was simply too boring.
The batmobile is a total car porn. Interesting that they added guidelines, like in many racing games nowadays. Jumping from roof to roof in a car is not my cup of tea, though. “I need more tanks in my Batman game!” said no one ever. But still, here we are, with endless “tank” battles.
At first I thought it’s called “Arkham Knight” because Batman gets a new, armor-like suit. But turns out there’s also a villain that calls himself Arkham Knight. To add to the confusion, he also looks like a futuristic version of Batman.
Joker is back. But not exactly. Although he died in the previous game, now he lives rent-free in Batman’s head. Something to do with Jokers blood turning others into Jokers, and Batman infected. And I’m not joking about that.
One interesting bit is that they recreate Joker shooting Oracle from “Killing Joke” comics.
There are tons of minigames, most of them annoying. I already mentioned tank battles. There’s a variation where you need to hold off waves of enemy tanks. There are also car chases, where you need to shoot or ram jeeps and APCs. There are circuit races, where you need to ride on the walls and you can switch obstacles.
In this version, Jason Todd, the less successful Robin, is shot by Joker, not beaten to death. Doesn’t make much difference, really. And Joker is unreliable narrator anyway. Speaking of unreliable narrators, one of the main themes is that Batman is constantly lying to everyone. When Barbara / Oracle gets kidnapped, he lies to Robin, who’s her boyfriend, about that. Then when Scarecrow forces her to commit suicide, he hides this from Robin as well. Finally, after all the Joker-pretenders get killed by Old-Man-pretender, he tricks Robin into a cell.
Slightly annoying that often there’s no indication what you need in order to start a mission. Some of the Riddler’s missions are available before you can bring the Batmobile to the island, for example.

The final boss fight with Arkham Knight is… a set of races. Not kidding. You need to race and excavator through tunnel obstacles three times. Luckily, it isn’t very hard, otherwise I’d be mad.

Oh, and that’s after you beat him in… a sneak tank battle. Yes, you need to sneak on his megatank multiple times 🤷‍♂️

There is literally a teary episode where Batmobile is torn by an excavator. Which is not issue, we get a spare half an hour later, just in different color.

Then there’s a second phase, where Knight tries to snipe you, while you sneak up to him. Four times, no less.

There’s an interesting episode inside Joker’s head, which starts as a TPS, then becomes FPS. A welcome change of pace.
I was about to compliment the game for letting me finish it without the need to farm boring sidemissions… but no. You need to complete enough sidemissions to get to the true ending. At first I was almost ready to do it, although it would be quite boring. But then it turned out that the sidemissions aren’t highlighted on the map.
There are some bonus missions where you get to fight Killer Croc, Mad Hatter and some others. But those aren’t counted to the Knightfall Protocol progression 🤷‍♂️

The game still crashes frequently, 7 years after the release. The only solution is to disable nVidia GameWorks completely.

Finally playing Arkham Knight after getting through the first two games again and while the game is pretty much just more of the same - which is great, if it ain't broke don't fix it - the Batmobile stuff seriously drags it down. Hopefully there's not a lot of it.

It took me a while to finish this game. Because this is a thing I do, I quit playing Arkham Knight with maybe an hour before I'd have rolled credits. That said, my review of this is probably worthless as there is a several year gap between putting it down and picking it back up again. I played through Arkham Origins somewhere in that gap, if that tells you anything.

There's a reason I put the game down, and I think it revolves around Knight being a more disappointing entry overall then Asylum and City. Asylum was a revolution, and I'll never forget my time with that game. I think that stands as one of the best super-hero experiences that's ever been made. I'd like to go back and replay it sometime soon to see if the memory holds. City, for me, was also revolutionary because I love open world games. It took all that I liked about Asylum and put it into a fairly good-sized chunk of Gotham. Like Asylum, I couldn't put it down. I was excited for Knight, even if the prior games had nearly exhausted the rogue's gallery. It felt good, played good, but there was something missing from Knight that the other games had. Maybe it was too similar. Maybe the villains felt lackluster (and honestly, after rolling the credits, I felt pretty let down by the entire Arkham Knight plotline).

That said, this is still a Rocksteady Batman game and that counts for a hell of a lot. There's almost nothing wrong with it that I can point to and say, "I don't like that," except for potentially the car combat. That stuff was more frustrating than fun, even if I liked the notion of driving around the city. All said, great game. Worth playing. Still looks great.

Man.. just got myself a PS4 (lots of gaming to do!) and first game in.. I guess I get it. I love this series, platted both Asylum and City, and did everything in Origins. But MAN it got to the point where I just want to do the whole story and then double on the sidequests... a lot are great, but there are A LOT and most are neverending.. Love the mechanic where you stumble across a lot of them while exploring, but at some point I decided to just let them gather on my map..

The game's story built off of its previous entries and really wrapped up the Batman story within the Rocksteady's version of the universe. It had twists and turns and was very well executed. Rocksteady does a solid job of their in-game effects for acting and misdirection. The whole scene of a room can change just by moving your camera. I love it when they do that experimental stuff.

The gameplay follows in suit that of the first game, but adds on the Batmobile which is so amazing. It feels so powerful to drive and fight with. It has so many capabilities between mobility combat and puzzle solving. I have heard others got tired of the Batmobile, but I personally did not. The melee combat seemed a bit more over complicated than the previous titles. I often found myself just sticking to the same takedown technics even though I did unlock multople gadget takedowns.

The game looks great, but without tweaking correctly the settings on the PC version of the game then you will run into many frustrating hang ups especially in the car chase missions.

Overall a great installment to the series that takes what is already great and adds even more to it.

I am enjoying this open world game quite a bit more than Far Cry 5. The combat in Batman is more engaging and I like exploring the world more. In Batman I can manage to travel around by rooftop without constantly being attacked. In Far Cry there seems to be a lot more bad guys roaming around and it gets kinda annoying constantly running into them when I just want to go drive somewhere else. The story and characters in Batman are a ton more interesting, though that could be its bit more fantastical nature. I don’t want to give up on Far Cry yet apart from taking over bases, I haven’t found any good missions I have really enjoyed.

There were obviously PC porting problems but it's a shame that people are missing out on this because outside of a reliance on Batmobile tank battles (they're mildly entertaining; there are just too many), it's a great game. Driving the Batmobile is fun, the predator mode is still a blast, combat has been refined and they added a little more to the already amazing system, you still FEEL like Batman, an interesting story (even if the Arkham Knight reveal wasn't unpredictable -- I still liked it).
