Eu sou a noite! Eu sou o Batman.

Pretty astute breakdown that matches all the reasons why I've had so much trouble getting into, and enjoying, Arkham Knight.

Started playing Arkham Knight and then returned it to my backlog. I am not sure what it was, but I am not feeling this game at this moment. Unlike Asylum and City this game is simply not grabbing me. Maybe it is the Batmobile, or maybe its the sheer amount of superfluous content that muddles the main story. Perhaps it's the fact that I struggle with the idea that Nigma would ever conceive of a race as a riddle. Or the lack of a compelling villain at the get-go (Scarecrow is no Joker). I have reshelved Arkham Knight with a plan to return later, in the hope that my mood better suits the game at a later date.

I recently completed all of the story-based DLC ("Season of Infamy" and all the Arkham Episodes). Given that my review of the core game was glowing, I thought I'd jot down my comparatively more critical comments regarding the DLC.

Harley Quinn - ★✫✫✫✫

Although it's interesting seeing things from the villain's perspective, overall Harley just feels like a clunkier, less-capable Catwoman. The story doesn't really tell us anything new about the character. Arguably the most forgettable DLC of the bunch.

Red Hood - ★★★✫✫

Though just as bland from a storytelling perspective, I found the introduction of firearm-based fighting techniques added a surprising amount of variety to my takedown techniques. It also establishes a nice counterpoint to Batman's comparatively merciful tactics.

Batgirl: A Matter of Family - ★★★★✫

This is one of the better bits of DLC. There's a new locale, lots of storytelling and a decent amount of variety between objectives. My biggest criticism is that the design doesn't really communicate sidequests very well. I completely missed the most satisfying one until I Googled why this episode wasn't 100% completed yet.

Catwoman's Revenge - ★★★✫✫

In reality, this is probably a two-star effort. The difficulty curve is uneven and the challenges are mostly rehashed. What bumps it up a star for me is the sheer satisfaction of beating Riddler again after completing his main game sidequest.

GCPD Lockdown - ★★✫✫✫

Decent predator mission that emphasizes speed, but snore-inducing fight sequences. I can't get excited about playing as Worse Batman.

A Flip of a Coin - ★★★✫✫

Better balanced than most of the other DLC and with some decent story moments.

Season of Infamy - ★★★★★

This is easily (and perhaps unsurprisingly) the most satisfying DLC. The chance to explore Gotham City unfettered just feels so much better than the walled-off episodes do. And though not all missions are of equal quality here, the Mr. Freeze story in particular really made the pack for me.

Batman: Arkham Knight

Very nice game and attractive but....the most annoying thing is that if you want to play side missions you must fly all over Gotham with Batman to find them somewhere in the city...

Everyone's got Arkham Knight, including my boyfriend, but he won't play it. He insists on 100%ing the other games first. Kinda driving me crazy, because I want to see it
